Sydney Magic Coaching Staff (NSW)
Sydney Magic PCYC in their quest to become 4 time Consecutive Club Champions have finalized their coaching staff for this coming 2008/09 season.
The under 12s side will be coaches by 2 members of our Senior side in Roberto Maiorana and Olly Momirecvski. Roberto whom is also a current NSW Thunder representative has been with the club for now his 6th year whilst Olly is entering his 4th year at the club and is also a former State and National team member.
The 14s side will be under the leadership of another 2 of our senior Mens players in Ross Fazzalaro and Billy Dimitropolous both of whom are NSW Representative players. Both boys have been with the club for this their 5th season. Ross had the u/16s side last year taking his troops to the semi finals while Billy assisted the undefeated u/14s side last year.
The u/13 girls will be under the watchful eye of Michael Bergin and Rose Marie Scarlato. Mick whom had the u/10 girl state team at the recent Nationals will be assisted by current NSW player and Open womens team member and co Captain Rose who had the same role last season in assisting the u/13 girls.
The 16 boys will be again under the watchful eye of one of Championship winning Mens players with Dylan Maloney taking the reigns. Assisting Dylan will be one of the most successful coaches in Futsal NSW history Carmine Bortone. Carmine who has taken a back seat this season in the coaching department will look to pass on his vast experience to young Dylan who was part of the successful u/16s coaching combo last season.
The u/16g will be under the watchful eye of Senior Womens coach Matteo Maiorana and current Futsal NSW Womens Player of the Year Natalie Spirovski. Nat held the same role last season whilst Matteo having the senior squad is looking at drafting some of his younger troops onto the senior side throughout the season. This was also a factor in the squad that recently won the Super League competition where 3 girls complemented the Senior Squad to take out the title.
The Youth Mens side will be under the experienced Tony Candy. Tony formally for the strong Sydney City club will have a young side at his disposal, will see his first foray in coaching in orange and black to develop the boys into Senior Mens players for the following season. But with the Quality within the side even at a young age should see the team go well. Assisting Tony will be Peter Musumeci who has been with the club for 5 years but this his first foray into coaching.
The 2 senior Sides will see Matteo Maiorana and Jamie Amendolia taking the roles. Matteo has had great success in recent seasons with this side, including both State and National Titles will expect a better finish than last season whilst Jamie whos first foray into coaching saw his side take out the Championship last season resulting in Jamie being selected to take the reigns of the NSW Mens side at the up coming National Championships whilst the academy side which consists of u/10s and u/11s players will be taken by the mercurial Gabriel Chi Chi Mendez. Chi Chi in his first year with the club has the important role of getting the youngest Magicians ready to compete for the u/12s next season.

Futsal Review – Coach Education (FFA)
Relevant to all Futsal Coaches and keen Fans of the game, attached (Click on the picture) is power point presentation on Futsal in terms of Coach Education, presented by Kelly Cross at a recent FFA Coach Education Workshop at Homebush. At the workshop Football NSW was represented by Norm Boardman.
Kelly Cross had requested from Norm Boardman names of potential Futsal Instructors and other potential persons to attend a future dedicated Futsal workshop to conduct a Futsal Curriculum Review. That process has been achieved with Norm and Tim Genzo also arranging for the pilot program referred to in the presentation, to be undertaken this month.
I’m sure everyone will agree that establishing such a curriculum is an important component in the overall task of developing the game of Futsal in Australia.

Futsal coaches put through paces (VIC)
All coaching staff attending the 2009 Futsal National Championships and the 2008 National School Futsal Titles were put through a full day coaching workshop on Saturday, conducted by current Futsalroos Coach Scott Gilligan.
The workshop, held at St Monica’s College in Epping, included such modules as designing a training program prior to a tournament, the understanding and implementation of defensive and offensive tactics and even the effective use of set plays.
The workshop was extremely interactive, giving FFV coaches the opportunity to share their ideas and experiences and prove their understanding of certain tactical plays and methods.
This was the fourth time in eight months that Scott Gilligan has been available to assist Football Federation Victoria. His extensive knowledge and experience as a former player and current coach at the highest level has been invaluable to FFV assisting in their successful delivery of Futsal in Victoria.
