Do we know which countries Australia beat to become the top team in Asia?
I believe this is the FIFUSA version of a futsal Ladies World cup, where the only similarities to the current format the ladies play, is that there is a futsal ball and that they kick goals to win the game.
This is another classic example of Vikings (aka virus) forcing themselves into another version of the sport. Why?
How many female players who play week in and week out in the FIFUSA fraternity are going on this tour as well. Were they given the opportunity to represent (even under the Virus banner). These players have never been involved in the FIFUSA movement until now so why are the getting the oppportunity for this? (Dont get me wrong, good luck to them as I like seeing any Australian team beat everyone) And yep Im sure all you Vikings luvin grass smokin hillbillies will get on and bag me for being anti womens sport (which im not). Also i am organising a womens World Cup for log chopping, Vikings may as well send their team to that as it will be just a beneficial for them.
Why are their so many QLD players in the team? When were the trials for the Aus team? I dont mind the Virus Aus team advertising their existence, but call it what it is. Its the Vikings (a non sanctioned FFA) Womens Futsal Team (looking at where the players are from) its very clearly not a National team (and again Grass smokin hillbillies aka bogans) yes im well aware that the National Mens team is predominantly made up from NSW players, but NSW does also have the best Futsal comp in the country so that is a little justified.
And you guys beat no body in ASIA to become the top team so do not advertise the fact, but then again, when you are the only team to nominate then you may have some credence.
But again, good luck
ASIA? There is no FIFUSA is Asia. Last time I checked, Australia were a member of EUROPE for AMF …
AMF website – http://www.amfutsal.com.py/
… which shows the European affiliate as UEFS. Their site:
http://www.uefsfutsal.com
Oh … and that’s not even Vikings as the affiliate – so we have TWO national teams? … or is it just that AMF is so desperate, they’ll take whoever they can get …
oh dear guys………
is it too hard to say well done to Vikings for giving these girls an opportunity???
i stated in another post to some ill-advised morons that the team was picked from a national vikings tournement where a number of states were present but qld were an unbelievable team……..
now after seeing the tournament these girls were involved in and seeing the final squad i would be willing to wager a decent amount on this team doing well at the world cup………
now is it really a bad thing we have representation at this prestigious event??????
come on guys get behind futsal being a power sport in this country and stop being a pack of whingeing idiots…… while we banter on here vikings are going about running the sport!!! hats off to them!!!!
Anybody got any idea of when was the last time the FFA did anything for womens Futsal?
You just never know this might…. hmm I say that with a grain of salt… be a catalyst for the FFA to get of their arse and do something.
Looks a pretty good side though. Barberi and Burgess have been playing very well and Queensland have been very dominant in womens Futsal for some time now. I’m sure the NSW girls are looking on in envy at actually getting a trip away to play
Why critise something when NOTHING else is being done. Vasquez you seem quite content to just sit and watch nothing happen, be careful, you’ll end up working for the FFA… hell you’d be perfect to run the review
QLD dominant in women’s Futsal?????
Haven’t NSW won the last 3 Nationals?
the teams were selected from the last leg of the Vikings National League so if NSW didn’t enter a team in that competition then obviously they would not be picked!!!
the option is there for nsw women to be involved if they liked i am sure???
every other state was represented???
I was just wondering when the FFA Australian Womens team is being announced for the tour overseas? I guess they will announce it after the Canberra Nationals……As Vikings will not be allowed to attend I guess the side will be made up of players from NSW and ACT which again I guess is a fair representation of a National squad…they may throw the token Vic in….this would be okay as it will be an FFA team….. Vikings did run a National League for its members for selection purposes at least 3 states gaining selection into the team…with 2 of them Matildas….cant wait to see the Womens team on the net…
Hey NSW GIRLS, lets put a team together and lets go up to Bris ( nice weather there this time of year) and lets give the AUSTRALIAN Team a game….
if anything it will give them a good workout, as im sure they would appreciate it.
come on all you guys , lets s_ __ _ or get off the pot with this one…….
the invitation is pretty clear from what i read of the announcement….
maybe next time the FFA can get off its you know what and get its act together….after all this is a great sport.
ive got to say, good on you Vikings , be i virus or whatever for doing this for the girls…….
3 states represented!!! what a joke, 9 from QLD ,2 from Vic and only 1 from SA.
Seems to me the Vic and SA representatives are token players wouldn’t you say.
i seem to remember being ridiculed for suggesting that football and futsal codes could work together to build the sport and it was actually by a pro vikings supporter, so why are there football players in the squad? At least 3 spots are taken by dedicated football players, wouldn’t it make sense to pick a squad from futsal dedicated players? i would have thought so. Not to mention the fact that the matilda’s girls are employees of vikings as stated by another vikings supporter,
Good luck to the girls i hope they achieve great things, it’s a pity their achievements will not be recognised by the governing bodies of the sport accept AMF/FIFUSA who no-one has ever heard of in this country and is not likely to in the near future.
Sonic… Are you for real? or are you pretending to be ignorant? Seems to me that what Vikings have done is pick the best squad available to them, (i.e players who are registered with their association and have played in their tournaments), unlike the Futsalroos who basically pick NSW players with the token interstater – 1 from Victoria and a couple from Qld – same thing isn’t it except you are not raving on about it because they are”FFA sanctioned”.
As for the dedicated football players – I seem to remember them all playing at Nationals – not only this year, but in years gone by. Just because their profile is higher in football (because they are Matildas and the like) doesn’t mean they don’t play futsal, or have not supported the game in the past. How many of the Futsalroos are dedicated Football players?
Since your in the know, how many of the Matildas players are employees of Vikings? I bet you don’t know?…… 1 – Jo Burgess, Melissa Barbierri doesn’t work for Vikings.
By the way – if someone is a dedicated futsal person, they will know who AMF/FIFUSA is. Because it’s not FIFA, does it mean it doesn’t excist?
You must be frightened or feel threatened of Vikings and all the publicity they receive within the futsal fraternaty on everything little thing they do – because people like you are always trying to gun them down. Fair dinkum – stop firing blanks, you’ve embarassed yourself enough. Fact is they are “doers” not “gunnas”.
I do agree with one of your coments though – Good Luck to the girls and coaching staff in the tournament.
Ah its a funny old world isn’t it. David Birch from Conniston puts up an Australian Womens team story and it basically goes by unnoticed except for a couple of remarks about the girls playing in a NSW football comp. Vikings name a side and it’s as if the world is about to go out of orbit.
I have to say I feel a bit sorry Reagan. He put together a website that “for all”, hence the name. For the most part it’s become a Vikings Bashing Forum. I haven’t seen to much from the FFA but lots of things from what i believe are independent futsal providers mainly from Vic or SA. I have a sneeky suspicion that most posters might be from Vic Football…
Good luck to the girls in Spain, I’d hardly call Melissa Barberi a token player though. The fact that these Matilda players are playing Futsal and taking it seriously surely is a positive for Futsal
I think you’ll find that Jo Burgess is a long-standing Futsal player and that Futsal has helped her get where she is in outdoor football. I understand Melissa has only been playing Futsal for less than one year but was outstanding at the Nationals in January.
Good luck to the girls in Spain but just a shame that the squad is not representative of all the Futsal talent in the country.
Sonic….. as was quoted above the past few years there have mainly been players from NSW making up the Australian Mens team…but that is all rite by you…..There is an invite for any team to come and play them….. so John get the girls together and take on the Vikings team……win lose or draw it should be a good game if you get the rite team….I am sure they will give you a couple of games one weekend….Hey Sonic they say that once you have opened your mouth you reveal how big a fool you are!!!! Only 1 Matilda works for Vikings….idiot
I advise that before you ‘open your mouth next time’ you should make sure that what you are writing is correct…….Will you be at the airport waving goodbye to the FFA Womens team this year ??????? No thats rite they are not going anywhere…oops sorry there is no team is there! Nor any junior team going anywhere by FFA….but keep paying those fees to Footbal NSW……..
Congrats to the girls winning 11-2 in the opening game against Italy
Thats a great start next game is v Paraguay who drew 3 all with Italy
First of all jade banks is not only a great player, shes also extremely hot. second of all jade banks is EXTREMELY HOT
Thanks for that Jade. Score three goals and it goes to your head.
george, i’ve never even spoken to jade banks. i was simply expressing my opinion in regard to not only her playing ability but also her attractiveness. although as i mentioned i have never spoke to jade banks, im sure she isn’t a arrogant as you imagine her to be otherwise she would not be playing for top teams.
