I agree. Big Future as does Angus Souter and they are both players to watch through the Vikings system for years to come.

if your favorite spostperson is Nathan Buckley (AFL) you will never play Futsal bebeyon 15s………. unfortunately it is said true………… ther is no room in this country for Football & Futsal…….. anyway that is only my opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Warriors!!!!!!!

Jose,
Are you serious mate?
What a joke comment that is!
The kid thrives on futsal and is travelling to Sydney in January and then USA next year (Australian Vikings Squad Rep) and has a massive future in the game if he wishes to pursue that!
He is fit, fast, strong, great touch and brilliant finisher both feet and is mature beyond his years and he has to read stupid comments like that!
He is also part of the Tasmanian Islanders Futsal Academy program and is a very keen supporter of the local Tasmanian Mens competitions so i would suggest his interest in the sport is pretty strong and he will play on for many years and will play at a very high level as will young Angus Souter and many of the kids that are coming through the Islanders Futsal Academy.
My most admired sports person is Lance Armstrong and i don’t cycle. Go figure?
Keep up the good work Trey.

That is great news, that he is full on.
Hope to watch him playing for Tasmania’s State Team in Canberra next year.

hahaha why would he play in canberra when any decent state team in tasmanian futsal is through vikings? ffa don’t have one single futsal coach within tasmania?
but yes he will be playing in the best competition available in sydney in january and will be looking to add a vikings national club title to his vikings national school title….
please can you see the achievements of these 12 year old kids rather than try and take the gloss off what they have achieved? i know that jealousy is a problem (assuming your tasmanian with the warriors mention) within tasmanian sport but please leave the political rubbish and the knocking to a more senior level instead of stooping as low as under respecting a 12 yr old.

Unfortunately neither Nationals will have the ‘best competition available’ .

Football & Futsal in this country need to be run by FFA not Vikings or some other organization.
If you refer to FFA National Futsal Championship web page, Tasmania was represented by number of teams (see draws & results).

The Canberra tournament would be the strongest of the two given the two strongest states NSW and ACT will be at that one and most of the boys FFV teams are very good.
The Tassie teams at last year’s FFA tournament weren’t too bad as individuals and they worked hard as a team but they weren’t able to maintain that for the full 40 minutes and the opposition would usually run over the top of them towards the end. Having seen the Tassie teams at this year Vikings schools tournament I don’t think there is much of a difference between the 2 Tassie groups, its just that the strongest Tassie Vikings team didn’t have the same level of opposition so were able to be more successful. The weaker Tassie teams though were dreadful. Sending 1 or 2 teams is ok because they’re top team or 2 were good but I’m not sure why you would send 4 or 6 teams in an age group, it just diluted the standard of the competition.

The Men’s team playing in the FIFA sanctioned Asian Futsal Championships in 2009 will be the winning state team in the Canberra Nationals. Almost all of the Futsalroos who will represent Australia in the FIFA sanctioned ASEAN and Asian Futsal Championships 2009 will also be coming from the players in the Canberra Nationals. Added to that, the KL Fives and possibly Singapore Tiger 5s competition, I think the pathway for players who are serious about futsal must be through FFA.

What a pathway. A few comps for the men. Talk is cheap. Put the money where your mouth is.
But what about the WOMEN !! Absolutly nothing. Wouldn’t it been better to scrap one of the Mens tornements and send the WOMEN somewhere instead. The Women have more chance of winning a world cup( if there ever was one) than the men.
Great pathway for the few chosen players who don’t ever seem to be out of the National team. Trying to break through into the mens team is just dead man’s shoes
Nov 28, 2008, 4:05 pm
there is a mens team picked at the vikings nationals for the amf world cup i understand?
victory supporter i have seen all of these kids play and the 12′s vikings team from tasmania would wipe the floor with the fft team as they have correct futsal coaching aswell as individual ability.
It’s very funny to note that many of the kids who attended the ffa nationals in 2007 are now participants in Corey Smith’s Vikings Futsal Academy as it is the only place they can receive high level coaching in tsamania.
Jose- teams sent to ffa nationals from tasmania were organised by individual parents and also coached by these parents.

Can we at all stick to the topic of Trey Westbury who’s profile this happens to be? One of the best Futsal and Football prospects in Tasmania and also Nationally!!!!!
Nov 28, 2008, 5:40 pm
good work trey,……… i also like nathan buckley.. although much bigger fan of ryan o keefe….. yummmmmmmmmmmm
Nov 28, 2008, 9:52 pm
naturally, you say ‘correct futsal coaching’. As opposed to what? Are you insinuating that other States at nationals do not? NSW?
Nov 28, 2008, 10:01 pm
Simon,
are you illiterate? if you read my piece it says “in tasmania”
i am speaking about within tasmania and the fact that vikings is the only place that kids can get any sort of futsal coaching and that there are only probably 3 top level coaches in the state.
i couldn’t care less about nsw as that was not the argument.
although i would think that vikings offers a better commitment to developing futsal coaches.
