FFAA Womens Side returns home from Italy

SUCCESSFUL TOURNAMENT FOR FFAA WOMENS TEAM

The FFAA Womens side whilst finishing 5th overall in the European Cup did return home as winners of the 2nd division and are shown below with their medals and winners trophy.

President of the UEFS was suitably impressed by the teams performance that he has asked the FFAA executive to consider holding a ladies Oceanic Cup involving the Russian team and others during 2009 in Australia and has also invited FFAA sides to participate in Men’s, Ladies, Veterans and Youth tournaments during 2009.

It’s the FFAA. They have had a few articles on here before they departed. Official site for the tournament had them listed as Sydney rather than Australia.

Isnt it funny how FFAA and Vikings as two seperate entities can do something for Womens Futsal in Australia by sending teams to competitions overseas from Australia, but nothing from FFA?

And before anyone starts by saying it’s not sanctioned by FFA or FIFA, I think people are begining to think it means very little if FFA have nothing to back it up. Its a long time between drinks when FFA is concerned

    Well done girls

Good point Johno but (FFA affiliated) ACT sent a women’s team to a similar overseas tournament last year so I guess it can be done.

I think this competition was a club based national representation, which gives reason as to why the FFAA team was named the Sydney Dolphins, from the looks of things they competed against teams from for example Saint petersburg, Volgograd(Stalingrad), Stezzano, Nairi, Sevastopol and Burgas all cities or municipalities. So i should think it would be fair to say for it to be a city based competition, rather than a national side?

I think anything that gets players experiencing varied styles of play from other countries, and although with varied success can only be good for the sport in Australia.

What I like most is that there are people and bodies out there doing something for the sport now without assistance from a National body.
