The Inaugural round for the Melbourne Futsal League got underway last Sunday 9th November.
Australian Futsal Group hosted the first round at the newly built Caroline Springs Leisure Centre.
Four under 11 teams competed with the first match concluding in a close 2 – 2 draw between the host team Australian Futsal Group and the Cobras Futsal Club.
This was the first time, for many of the players, competing in an elite standard competition complete with our national anthem, three referees and a complete professional approach. The nerves were quite obvious at the beginning but it didn’t take long for the kids to settle down and start showing why they are amongst Melbourne’s best.
The standard was very high with players using all the tricks flare and tactical manoeuvres they could to try and get an ascendency on their opponents. The crowd in the show court were notably entertained, getting right into the spirit of things with many games going right to the wire.
There wasn’t much between the top teams, with these matches drawing lots of emotional responses from players, coaches and crowd alike.
The Under 13’s competition gets underway at Caroline Springs this coming Sunday 16th November with five teams competing.
It promises to be very entertaining.
