Solomon Islands not represented in course
November 11, 2008
There are no Solomon Islands representatives attending the weeklong FIFA sanctioned Futsal coaching course held in Suva , Fiji.
Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) revealed to Star Sports the reason for Solomon Islands not attending is they were not invited.
This is despite Solomon Islands being the first Islands nation to represent Oceania in the Futsal World Cup this year after wining the qualifiers earlier in Suva .
The course starts yesterday and will be attended by coaches from other countries in the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) region.
FUTSAL is a popular sport in the world today as a shorter code of football played in almost every country.
Through the course and the clinic, the coaches will be able to develop the sport further in the region but unfortunately we are left out.
A FIFA Beach Football clinic held fortnight ago in Suva which was attended by participants from Fiji , Vanuatu and New Caledonia also left Solomon Islands out.

I am conducting the course in Suva, Fiji this week & I can tell you there are only Fijians attending the course. Last week I conducted a course in Espirito Santo, Vanuatu & this was only for the people around that area. The Solomon Islands had a course booked for the end of this month however I have been told it has been cancelled. Brian Codrington was there recently & he was trying to set up dates for the course to be conducted with SIFF prior to his departure. There will be a course conducted in the Solomon Islands in the near future. Also courses will be conducted in NZ & New Caledonia but dates are yet to be determined. More dates have already been set down for further courses in Tahiti & Vanuatu for next year.
Is the Solomon Star a Murdoch rag?
