Why do the Vikings keep advertising ACT when there are no ACT teams in the draw?

    Simon on December 31st, 2008 8:10 pm

    National Championships?????????

In the 15girls there are 4 teams and 3 of those are from QLD, the other from Tasmania.
In the 13girls out of 7 teams there are 4 that are from QLD, 2 from Tasmania and 1 from NZ.
It isn’t only the girls though, the 10boys should have just held their comp on the gold coast as well. Out of 7 teams, 6 are QLD teams.

Seriously, how can Vikings call this a National Championship.

And as Simon stated, there are no ACT teams in the comp. Why advertise it that they are competing?

Not sure today on January 1st, 2009 5:19 am

Think you’ll find the same could be said about the NSW State champs sorry meant FFA nationals.

    toepoke on January 1st, 2009 8:22 am

ahhhh…… nothing like starting the new year with a bit of lively banter….. oh and a pissing contest……*L*

    toepoke on January 1st, 2009 8:24 am

Didn’t say it couldn’t be said about the FFA.

    Did I?

It seems a bit pointless though bringing 6 QLD teams to sydney for one age group, just so they can play against each other.

Not sure today on January 1st, 2009 9:21 am

but you certainly implied it was just about the Vikings…. didn’t see any mention of FFA.

I hear that argument all the time from small tournaments to nationals but at the end of the day it nothing more than a venue. Hell Man U won the Champions League against Chelsea in Moscow… in your words what is the point of that…. should have stayed home huh

Don’t know why ACT are mentioned no teams playing

    toepoke on January 1st, 2009 2:06 pm

Ther are 118 teams competing at the FFA Nationals. 57 from NSW, 27 from ACT, 7 from QLD, 12 VIC, 9 SA, 1 WA and some overseas teams.

Seems to me both Vikings and FFA have a weighting problem.

Old Timer on January 2nd, 2009 10:11 am

who cares! good luck all the teams at each nationals!

    naturally on January 2nd, 2009 3:11 pm

    13/14 Boys – Vikings “nationals”
    The Benchwarmers
    Southern Stars 13′’s
    Hobart
    South NSW 13’s
    South NSW 14’s

    14 Boys – FFA Nationals
    ACT Cobras
    Northern NSW Hornets
    Solomon Islands
    NSW Lightning
    Queensland
    NSW Thunder
    ACT Colts
    Victoria
    South Australia
    Southern NSW

    13 Boys FFA Nationals
    ACT Cobras
    NSW Thunder
    Western Australia
    ACT Colts
    Victoria
    Queensland
    South Australia

Pretty easy to work out what comp is a “Nationals”

    Futsaldad on January 2nd, 2009 3:36 pm

U r all idiots, queensland is going to kick arse

    michael on January 2nd, 2009 4:25 pm

yeah michael, probably another queensland arse !!!

    Simon on January 2nd, 2009 6:20 pm

Boys, Boy’s stop all that bickering, what do you expect from a sport that’s divided in so many organisations. Look at it this way, if the FFA kept their nose out of a sport that they dont give a ????????, and Soccer NSW gave back Futsal to Futsal people,
then Australian Futsal would be able to organise one hell of a national Championship.
But then again as long we keep on taking sides, that dream of one hell of a national championshis is a few years away.
Bringing outdoor teams coached by outdoor coaches from other states so the FFA can look good its just not Futsal.
at the time of putting together the Vikings Nationals there was a rumor that ACT was going to jump ship. Yes you are right, ACT should have been taken off by now.
Good luck to the Solomon Islands teams

    Bob on January 5th, 2009 6:04 pm

    Well said Bob

Futsaldad…. I find it funny with the comparison. You use the 13/14 boys from the individual club titles against the state series at the FFA tourny. FFA aren’t even running a club section.

FFA Nationals Snr Men 9 teams of which 4 are NSW and 2 ACT, Snr Women 8 teams 5 are from NSW

Shall we go on….. no there’s no need. Both tournaments have their multiple sides, as Bob said image the sport in the hands of Futsal people…. man what a tournament that would be…. back to the good old days

    Watch this space

    toepoke on January 5th, 2009 6:16 pm

ACT was never going with Vikings, what a load of bull.

Futsaldad used the wrong example. How about this:

    FFA 15 Boys
    ACT Cobras
    NSW Thunder
    NSW Lightning
    Queensland
    Victoria
    Western Australia
    Northern NSW
    South Australia
    Southern NSW

    Vikings 15 Boys
    um….

    FFA 14 Girls
    ACT Cobras
    ACT Colts
    NSW Thunder
    NSW Lightning
    Queensland
    South Australia
    Northern NSW

    Vikings 14 Girls
    ???

Vikings 11, 12, 16 Girls seem to be missing from the draw as well, that must be some sort of mistake…

    Canberran on January 5th, 2009 7:57 pm

this site is becoming a joke because of all the slanging……….

how about people just try and better the sport of futsal!

like i said in an earlier post…… GOOD LUCK TO ALL FUTSAL TEAMS IN BOTH COMPETITIONS AND LETS HOPE THESE PLAYERS CONTINUE!!

    naturally on January 6th, 2009 9:37 am

why does it matter that there are states that out number others, all that is doing is showing the commitment each state has to the game to aspire to higher goals. im from the north coast in nsw and these sort of championships gives us a platform to build towards and improve the game in our region, we dont have all the competitions cities get we deal with what we are offered.
remember every state has the right to enter as many teams they want maybe we should be getting on the back of states that arent entering teams into the national championships, like ACT apart from sydney they are the closest to these venues yet have no representation…

NNSW fan on January 8th, 2009 9:29 am

*** by ACT with no representation i was proclaiming the Vikings tournament

NNSW fan on January 8th, 2009 10:05 am

Ive just completed the FFA futsal Review…thought it might be more productive than joining in the sledging above ! (but there again I can join in if you really want me too ?) lol

    F.SALA on January 9th, 2009 11:43 am

i agree we need to build the game not bring down the foundations

NNSW fan on January 9th, 2009 12:55 pm

so basically, its the same old fight over the same old stuff.
everyone has to remember that vikings is what it says it is, futsal focused. However, ultimately it’s a business, it seeks profit. The quality of vikings futsal is low and they intentionally have misled people into playing in their nationals, as this will boost profit.

their lies (such as “australian teams” and “2009 nationals” are tarnishing the sport.
its about time vikings accepted that they are an indoor soccer business, and they have no worth to the australian futsal scene.

Glen Quag on January 10th, 2009 6:59 pm

Glen Quag. What do you mean Vikings have being misleading and are a business for profit. Can you give some specifics/details. I would be keen to know?
My son is playing in the Vikings tournament and I certainly would not want him playing for an organsisation which tells lies and tarnishes the sport. However, if what you say is merely opinion or hearsay, then I suggest strongly you keep those opinions to yourself.

Old Timer on January 10th, 2009 7:49 pm

Even the strongest FFA supporter would recognise Glen Quags comments for what they are Old Timer. I know ignorant garbage like that is hard to read sometimes but this fool will feel quite silly when he/she finds out who is playing Vikings futsal in 2009. Read between the lines and you realise they are juvenile comments from a very young ( and ill informed) author……………………………………………..

    F.SALA on January 11th, 2009 12:49 am

Tend to agree with Glen Quag (although I may of used different words).

I can’t help but notice that a week ago the teams in the Vikings “Nationals” draw were called random names like “The Benchwarmers” and “Earth Test Gunnerz”. Now the latest draw uses nothing but State names?

    Futsaldad on January 11th, 2009 9:44 am

Futsaldad – I think you are a little confused. Vikings ALWAYS had two draws – one for the state vs state tournament – National Futsal Championships (13 – 15 January), and one for the clubs tournament – National Team Championships (17 & 18 January). We should give you the benefit of the doubt and put it down to ignorance, or maybe it is another unsubstatiated swipe at Vikings.

Paulista Jnr on January 11th, 2009 10:11 am

Futsaldad, you appear to go to a lot of effort to get the totally wrong information ! Hope you dont feel too embarrassed ! lol

    F.SALA on January 11th, 2009 10:57 am

    OK I will stand corrected.

However I do know that a NSW Super League team was invited to enter a team as “NSW” in the Vikings Nationals. They were assured by the Vikings organisers that the team would be very competitive. However they couldn’t get the numbers and no team was entered.

    Futsaldad on January 11th, 2009 10:57 am

F.SALA no not too embarrassed. It wasn’t too hard to confuse that club teams were being entered as State Teams when that is EXACTLY what was being done. I have all the emails to prove it.

    Futsaldad on January 11th, 2009 11:36 am

Ah don’t you love it…. he said she said….

Glen Q…… dosn’t every sport try to make a profit… if they don’t they will soon not exist. With profit comes expansion and growth… and how much of that is happening at the FFA. I think you’ll find Vikings are a Not for Profit organisation…. you should look up the meaning… I think you’ll be surprised.

The NSW Nationals made good reading winner NSW… winner NSW. Congrats to the QLD 13boys and the Vic 11 boys as the only non NSW teams to win

Hey i think it’s time we had another review hell the FFA and NSW are doing one (but not completed until March) post Futsal season, shelved over winter forgotten by next season…. trend here??? but there is a review maybe we’ll get a review of the review which will be reviewed

    toepoke on January 11th, 2009 12:01 pm

Futsaldad. I thought you would have cut your losses and got out of this while you only looked confused, dig the hole deeper if you must ! lol

    F.SALA on January 11th, 2009 12:28 pm

The facts are that the U14 Northern Tigers super league were approached to enter a team as NSW in the Vikings Nationals 13-15 Jan (not the club event) I have the emails to prove it.

This does not go well for the credibility of an event promoted as a National championship.

F.SALA – if you deem to reply to this please address the facts and leave the personal insults out. Thanks

    Futsaldad on January 11th, 2009 12:55 pm

So the U14 Northern Tigers are not from NSW ? I love your repeat of “I have the emails to prove it ” !!! Who do you need to prove it too ? In my day the NSW, Sthn NSW and NTHN NSW teams were predominantly from Sydney. But as we were more interested in the children playing at the Nationals noone had to take proof of their address with them to qualify !

You hang on to those emails, they sound important…………….. to YOU !

    F.SALA on January 11th, 2009 2:17 pm

I suspect that many of the NSW/NSW City teams will be drawn from players already registered with FFA for their Futsal. Good luck to them anyway.

    Simon on January 11th, 2009 4:19 pm

Futsaldad – I think what you are trying to say is that this would never happen in an FFA sanctioned tournament………..NOT!! The WHOLE Victorian (FFV) Youth Girls squad was made up of students from St. Monicas Secondary College including the coach and team manager.

Paulista Jnr on January 12th, 2009 5:11 am

this is just a joke of a comp
have a look at all the teams entered. all from qld,
surely vikings andffa can come up with some agreement to let these qld playersplay in a decent comp and not just against them selves.

the qld mens have 6 futsalroos? and they are playing against rubbish teams, what is the benefit? surely they would of loved to of gone to asia?
Just heard of a result and apparently they only beat a super league side 6-4?

maybe nsw is too strong all round. thats why qld have gone with there own comp? to win trophies?
