FFA Futsal Review and Research Survey – Updated
Make sure you have your say in how the sport is run in Australia

*** Update 30/1/2009 : One more day to go! ***
Update 19/1/2009 : Chris Muldoon from SportBusiness Partners (the team doing the survey) has dropped us a line to let us know they have received 225 completed surveys since putting it online, and that they have also extended the deadline to the 31st of January.
We here at Futsal4all urge you to tell everyone you know that there is still time to fill it out. You have a genuine opportunity here to help shape the future of the sport here in Australia, so make the most of it.
For those of you worried recently that you may not get a chance to have your say during the FFA Futsal review, an official online survey is now available.
This is your opportunity to have some input into the review and have your voice heard. We strongly urge EVERYONE in Futsal to take the time to fill out the Survey.
Whether you are a Vikings or a FFA supporter, its very important you take the few minutes to share your thoughts on the sport we all love, so it be put on the right path nationwide and come out from under the shadow of Football.
The deadline for entries is 5pm on January the 31st.
From the Survey Website :
The FFA and their respective Member Federations (State and Territory Bodies) are committed to growing Futsal across Australia. As part of this process, the FFA has commissioned Sport Business Partners to conduct a review of Futsal to identify how the delivery of the game can be strengthened throughout Australia. Included in this process is the opportunity to interview Futsal players and others involved in the game to understand attitudes and opinions on how the game of Futsal is seen across the club, state and National levels. We are interested in the opinions of players, coaches, referees and administrators and would like to include your views.
This survey will take about 10-12 minutes to complete. Responses should be received by January 31 at 5pm. If you have any queries about this survey you can contact Martin Hirons at Sport Business Partners via e-mail at martin@sportbusiness.com.au

South Coast Taipans Season 2008/2009 (NSW)
In what has been another very satisfying season for South Coast, the Taipans have shown that our club is a strong and competitive club!
Our first success was in the adoption of our new brand “The Taipans” as this locally developed logo has united our club and very quickly become the focus of our Club Spirit.
In the Club Championship Table for Super League, we achieved a very pleasing 3rd place which is an improvement on our 5th place in our first season.
As predicted the last round against Dural was a ripper with the Benfica fans ringing after every game to check how Dural was going. They were very excited when our 12’s and 14’s boys won and 13 girls drew.
The Taipans pushed Dural all the way with both clubs earning 13 points for the round. What a finish!!
Once again, we were very proud of the efforts of all our teams and congratulate the 5 teams that reached the Final Series.
Congratulations to our 12’s boys who were Minor Premiers.
14’s boys who finished in 3rd but on the same points as first and second. Women who finished 4th on equal points. 16’s girls who finished 5th. Men who finished 5th. Youth Men – 6th, 13 girls – 7th, 16 boys – 7th.
During the season The Taipans had two clean sweep rounds in Round 9 against Apia and Round 11 against the Vikings.
Many people ensured the continued success of the South Coast Taipans; The very dedicated Committee, our determined and skilled players, our committed coaches and our very enthusiastic and vocal supporters.
Thank you to each and every one of you for your efforts to establish and support the mighty Taipans.
We wish our teams every success in the Finals Series.
GO YOU TAIPANSSSSS!!!!

The first Skyrail Northern State Futsal Championships held between 23rd and 25th of January 2009 were a huge success with 12 teams competing from the NQ Region.

FNSW reminds outdoor clubs that Futsal is important too
Football NSW have sent a letter to all outdoor clubs in Premier League, Super League and Division One requesting that they stop pressuring Futsal players to attend outdoor trials and training whilst there are still existing Futsal Commitments.
It is good to see this being addressed.
We have the contents of the mail sent to those clubs in full below.

Dear <recipient removed>
Players Registered in State Futsal Competitions
Football NSW has been approached by a number of its Futsal Clubs and the Football Standing Committee regarding pressure being applied to registered Futsal players to miss Futsal competition fixtures to attend preseason trial games and training for clubs competing in our Premier League, Super League and State League One Clubs.
The indications we have received tend to suggest the pressure to forgo Futsal competition commitments is most prevalent in the Football NSW Youth League competition age groups.
Futsal in an integral part of our sport. Participation should not be discouraged.
The important principle at the moment is the need to respect that players have existing competition commitments to their Futsal Clubs. Clubs involved in our three senior levels of Football are requested to respect the competition responsibilities some players have to Football NSW Futsal Clubs and competitions.
We ask you to advise your coaching personnel to refrain from requesting players to forgo their competition obligations to Futsal to attend trial matches or training for your club.
Thank you in anticipation of your support and understanding of this request.
Your sincerely
Ian Holmes
