‘Result still coming’ ???? after 1 week?
Jan 22, 2009, 8:39 pm
Why were QLD so dominant and NSW so absent from the finals ?
Jan 22, 2009, 8:54 pm
uncle jack that a serious question?
Jan 22, 2009, 9:08 pm
Uncle Jack, from memory, the last time Queensland played in a combined National Championships with NSW and ACT state teams represented, they did not win a single age group, male of female. Does that answer your question?
Jan 22, 2009, 9:14 pm
You are right, I am being naughty.
But it does highlight impact of holding 2 ‘National’ tournaments back to back…
Jan 23, 2009, 9:24 am
The three missing results are now posted (10 Boys, 11 Boy, Youth Women).
Jan 23, 2009, 4:03 pm
I think the media boards at the Vikings Nationals were great, it was a very good back drop for the photos. Well done Vikings!!!
Jan 23, 2009, 5:37 pm
Paul last time queensland vikings played in your combined nationals with NSW & ACT was 2008 !! and they did win one age group
Jan 24, 2009, 8:45 pm
QLD Vikings never actually participated as the Vikings but rather their players paricipated through selections held by the then QLD Futsal.
Jan 25, 2009, 8:40 am
My My we are getting technical Mr Rossi. As you know so much about Futsal in Queensland in 2008 you should know that the nominations were are done by Vikings Futsal through Queensland Futsal through Football Queensland. If you didn’t play in the Vikings Regionals in 2007 you were not looked at for selection.
So don’t crap on or make statements about something you don’t kow about

Frank is a legend in his own mind. He used to only reply to personal emails but as noone ever asked his opinion he decided to share his ignorance with us all ! lol
Jan 25, 2009, 9:50 am
Kind of hard to take these results seriously. In 2008 at the FFA Nationals QLD’s only winners were the 14 girls. Most of their teams struggled to make the semis and in a lot of the boys age groups they couldn’t even make the quarters. Even their beloved mens team only won 1 game out of 6.
Jan 25, 2009, 12:44 pm
Steve….. you said “the nominations were are done by Vikings Futsal through Queensland Futsal through Football Queensland”
Football QLD had nothing to do with vikings nationals
Jan 25, 2009, 2:16 pm
Geez Victory fan, its all about winning to you isnt it ? Thank goodness the FFA and the Socceroos dont rely on your support !
Jan 25, 2009, 4:31 pm
Nope, it’s not all about winning, just stirring the pot a bit. I knew either you or toepoke would bite. Anything at all negative about Vikings and you guys are onto it in a flash.
And talking about winning, if Vikings have all these great programs in place why isn’t the standard better? Honest question.
Jan 25, 2009, 5:22 pm
You couldn’t stir up dust Victory Fan…”and talking about winning………” Who was ? Oh yes let me see , it was you ! duh !
Let me fill you in….there are Vikings players in our National teams, State teams ,Rep teams, international touring teams, academy teams and some even play overseas in professional leagues I recently had a team of Qld based Viking players which included a Sydney lad who beat their counterparts in Brasil in a great game so the standard is there, the only thing missing ,probably was you ! Honest answer !
Jan 25, 2009, 7:50 pm
I reakon Qld went vikings cause they can win some titles. In canberra they couldnt take nothing off NSW/
Jan 25, 2009, 7:56 pm
12345 read the posts. I was talking about the 2008 Nationals in Canberra that Queensland (Vikings/QFA via FQ) did attend, and having read all the promotions on this website and actually going there I think I know who was running the Vikings comp in 2009 in Western Sydney.
Jan 25, 2009, 9:07 pm
Didi,
Didn’t QLD win the U13 Boys in Canberra against Victoria this year ?
Jan 25, 2009, 9:54 pm
big deal. 1 out of how many?
Jan 26, 2009, 9:52 am
Sorry Didi, I forgot how biased you are. Forgive me for trying to give QLD some credit for their efforts.
Continue to live in your unreality bubble.
Jan 26, 2009, 12:33 pm
Only one way for either camp to prove their “development programs”, and that would be for FFA and Vikings to play each other – which by all on this website is not going to happen. Pity, I saw some great teams in Sydney and I believe that Vikings and FFA would be close to even across the age groups if they played their allstars against each other.
So, only other issue the is for these people to get past their empires and get together for the good of the sport. I wonder which way that will go: FFA whose priority is outdoor, or Vikings who solely operate Futsal? I know which one I’d bet on to provide a futsal future.
Jan 26, 2009, 1:32 pm
Didi, I believe it was 1 out of 17.
Jan 27, 2009, 5:35 am
Please explain Older laddie, what is the FFA ‘s FUTSAL “development program” ?
Jan 27, 2009, 12:03 pm
Paul…1 out of 7, QLD only entered 7 teams
Jan 27, 2009, 2:32 pm
12345 Queensland won 1 in 2008 and 1 in 2009. In effect, Queensland achieved the same result in 2009 without the Vikings and only entering 7 teams as they did with the Vikings contesting all the categories in 2008. What does this say about the standard of the Vikings?
Jan 27, 2009, 4:31 pm
True, but with the neutral cap on, if the vikings had their opens squads, at least QLD wouldve been competitive.
Vikings can be a great thing for the sport in AUS, they just need to get the $$$$ signs out of their eyes and pick their best team instead of sending 6 mediocore teams.
Jan 27, 2009, 5:38 pm
Fair comment 12345 the FFA told me they thought the Nationals should be for ELITE teams only (that in my eyes eliminates 80% of the teams that go to Canberra ) ! lol
My personal opinion passed on to them was for a sport yet to be developed to anywhere near its full potential …its better to give opportunity to all players from far flung regions of Australia to represent their State/Territory, and to help promote the natural growth of our sport.
Its great if you live in Sydney and play in one of the “super” teams but if you dont ? What chances are there for those players ? Many critics here dont understand the geography of Qld let alone other associated problems !
NSW futsal is very strong but lets be honest, its made up of my “home town” (Sydney metro) teams, the rest of NSW is virtually being developed by Vikings ! Didn’t many of our sporting champions originate from country towns ?
An ‘elite ‘ nationals is a few years off yet – lets establish the sport first huh ?
Jan 27, 2009, 5:41 pm
12345 Vikings did not send the 7 teams. The teams at the FFA Nationals came from Queensland Futsal as part of Queensland Football. See http://www.footballqueensland.com.au/index.php?display=cat&id=52
Jan 27, 2009, 5:53 pm
f.sala you are spot-on. i agree with your latest post entirely.
i agree that the nationals should be for everyone. if your respective state selects representative teams (regardless of their relative skill level to the stronger states) then they should have every right to compete at the nationals. give them a chance to see what its like at the top level.
some won’t like it, but others certainly will, and it may give them enough incentive to see just how far they can go in the sport.
your comment on nsw futsal is correct too. fnsw pays lip service to the outlying areas, whereas pcyc and vikings are actually doing something about it (independently initially and now together if i’ve read the new item the other day correctly).
Jan 27, 2009, 10:53 pm
Many forums, thread comments; all great debate. What is missing? The interested parties that can get together and work this out.
Pity there is no formal FNSW or Vikings feedback on the status of this turf war. It would go a long way to deciding for some which path to follow, for those clubs/players in doubt (heard some clubs in NMSW are meeting to review the options).
2009 seems set to be an interesting year indeed.
F.SALA
by “development program” I was refering to what ever the clubs do to improve their players via training, academies, competition, etc. I know FFA do not perform these activities, but some would argue that FNSW does under FFA? Rob V is the new captain at the helm, and I’ve been informed ask and ye shall receive. Maybe…
SIMO
Got your Strangler tickets yet – different front man though, wont be the same ….
Jan 28, 2009, 5:37 am
In your so called “turf war” the FFA I believe, banned all Vikings players from entering their Nationals. I also believe Vikings banned noone from their nationals………who seems more interested in developing the sport to you ????
Jan 28, 2009, 9:18 am
F.Sala, How do you know that the FFA banned Viking’s players from the Nationals? I can tell you that quite a few of the Victorian players in Canberra also play for Vikings…..so no ban was imposed on them.
The problem this year is that we had the Vikings titles following the nats in Canberra, so this meant that many players were forced to choose between the 2 comps.
Would it not be better for Vikings to hold their Nats later in the year so that we don’t end up with 2 diluted ‘National’ competitions ?
Surely this is just common sense.
Jan 28, 2009, 10:25 am
why does Vikings have to hold their tournament later in the year?
I went to both and enjoyed the Vikings event more. Sure some and I say only some of the quality was a little less BUT it was Futsal event run by Futsal people with Futsal teams….. I met so many Footballers who had never played Futsal at the FFA event and whats more don’t intend to play, game won’t grow if you target the wrong people
Jan 28, 2009, 10:59 am
My Left Foot, My point is that not everyone can afford to attend 2 tournaments back to back. I am sure that many Futsal players would love to go to both tournaments, but unfortunately it is not possible for many people to do this as the dates currently stand. Especially those players that come from interstate.
It would be better if Vikings held their tournament later in the year to avoid the obvious clash with the FFA event.
Jan 28, 2009, 2:24 pm
my left foot, which teams were the ‘Footballers’ playing for, as by my recollection the NSW (Metro) and ACT teams, who made up the majority, would be 100% seasoned Futsal players who may also play Football in the Winter.
Jan 28, 2009, 7:57 pm
MLF obviously wasn’t referring to NSW and ACT Simon. Are you the only guy in Australia unaware that this was happening ? lol
Jan 28, 2009, 8:07 pm
F.SALA..yes I’m well aware but if he/she is going to make sweeping statements then perhaps they should quantify them. Anyway, you never know how many will have enjoyed the experience and will continue to play Futsal. You really do have a bee in your bonnet mate but good luck to you !!
Jan 28, 2009, 10:02 pm
I was waiting for you to ask my left foot for their names and addresses Simon !
Hopefully they ALL enjoyed the experience, thats what sport is all about !
(I missed the bit about the bee ?)
Jan 28, 2009, 10:31 pm
Vikings’ calendar is overloaded later in the year with futsal tournaments…Champion of champions, National Schools in Dandenong, Overseas tours to Brasil, China, NZ, World cup competitions etc etc
Now if the FFA were to have theirs later in the year it would benefit them by having all the outdoor football players available to swell their numbers ?
Jan 29, 2009, 2:40 am
I spoke with players from Victoria, WA, QLD and NSW although I think they were country nsw. I’m hoping they enjoyed the event and fingers crossed they keep playing but is it developing Futsal or Football?
Why dosn’t FFA put thier tournament on later in the year?
Jan 29, 2009, 10:07 am
Why doesn’t FFA put their tournament on later in the year?
Why should they ? They have held the Nats in early Jan for ages. Why should the FFA have to change their program for the Vikings ?
Why would having it later in the year swell their numbers ? I don’t know of any outdoor leagues running in early January ?
