FFAA 2009 Mens Grand Final Report
IRAQ (NZ) are the FFAA 2009 Open Men’s National Interstate Club Champions – Tuesday, January 27, 2009
IRAQ (NZ) beat Black Knights 4/2 in the Grand Final.
In front of a vocal crowd the game was played at a fast end to end pace. The IRAQ side went in as underdogs with the Black Knights having beaten them during the rounds and entering the Grand Final underfeated.
In the begining it looked as though the Knights were going to continue on their winning way when they went to an early 1-0 lead. However, the IRAQ side led by a determined captain – Ahmed Khayyat – never gave up and they played some brillant soccer in a high paced 10 minutes that saw them run to a 4-1 lead.
The Knights had their opportunities to bring the game level but the defence of the IRAQ side saw the ball cleared from the goal line time and time again. The Knights only penetrated the goal once more with the game ending 4-2 to the excited IRAQ side.

* How is the winner chosen?
All entries submitted via email throughout the month are compiled by Gorilla Sports, and the General Manager of Gorilla Sports NSW will draw the winner. All valid entries are numbered as they are received. During the draw itself, all numbers are put into a hat and one is drawn at random. That number is matched to the number of the email that was submitted.
The winner will be announced on Futsal4all.
* Can I enter more than once?
No, one entry per person per month is all that will be covered. You are welcome to submit more, but after your first entry for that month, your other submissions will not be counted.
* But what if I think I got the question wrong and want to try again?
Sorry your first submission will be the only one that is counted.
* If I enter will my email details be used for anything else and will they be passed on to any other companies?
Your email address will be kept on file for the Gorilla Sports Newsletter only. It will not be passed on to any other companies, and will not be used by Futsal4all.
You must use a valid email address. Any addresses that cannot be contacted will be removed from the competition.
* Will it cost me anything to enter?
No there are no costs involved. It will not cost you to enter, or to have the prize shipped to you should you win.
* I entered the comp last month already, does my entry automatically go into the next months competition?
No, you need to submit an entry for each month, as the question will change each time.
* I’ve won, how and when do I get my prize?
Gorilla Sports will contact you via email to let you know and to request your address. You prize can be posted to you (at no cost to you), or depending on your location hand-delivered by Gorilla Sports, or you could even collect it from the Gorilla Sports shop. Feedback, from coaches, participants and spectators has been captured and will be incorporated into to format and running of the tournament in 2010.
A big thank you to the canteen staff at the Hills Sports Stadium who like in 2008 worked tirelessly to provide food and drink for those in attendance, also the cleaners who made sure the stadium was spotless at the beginning of each days play.
The executive looks forward to seeing you all again in 2010, when sides from New Zealand, Melbourne, the Philippines and a few of our smaller pacific island neighbours are anticipated as joining our competition.

Whilst all events (doesn’t matter what sport) do receive some negative feedback, the little information FFAA received is seen as an opportunity to further improve next years event and plans are underway to review the process for age identification in the junior teams, remove the capability for player sharing – all ages, involve teams in event scoring and seek referees from participating clubs plus allowing more time at half time.
The date and venue are also under review as the next Inter-State Championship to be held again in Sydney will see additional sides joining who have already expressed their interest in participating.
Overcoming months details will be provided on this web-site [FFAA] as to the enhancements and decisions that are made.
Pictures of 2009 winners and other shots during the tournament will be available under the Tournaments Tab in the coming week.
Look forward to seeing you again on 2010.
