HO CHI MINH CITY TO HOST TWO AFF COMPETITIONS IN 2009

The Vietnam Footbal Federation (VFF) have decided to be hosts of two Asean Football Federation (AFF) competitions in 2009 following the 8th meeting of the AFF Council yesterday.

And Ho Chi Minh City has been chosen by the Vietnam national body to organise the two competitions this year and they are the AFF Under-19 Youth Championship and also the AFF Futsal Championship.

Subject to further confirmation, the AFF Under-19 Youth Championship will be held from 5-15 August 2009 while the AFF Futsal Championship will be played out from 14-20 June 2009.

Thailand, who have been the hosts for the AFF Futsal Championship since its inception, will be organising the AFF Under-16 Youth Championship in Bangkok although the dates have yet to be confirmed

The final tournament under the AFF flagship this year will be the AFF Under-16 Women’s Championship which will be held in Yangon, Myanmar where it has been slated to tentatively begin on 9 October 2009.

In the meantime, the AFF will once again be busy with more education seminars for Member Associations in 2009 with eight courses being planned.

The Match Commissioners/ General Coordinators course will be held in Myanmar on 8-12 June 2009 while the Technical Directors’ Course will be in Vietnam on 25-29 May 2009.

The Futuro III Module 2: Marketing, Media and Communication will also be in Vietnam on 1-5 Aug 2009 and the Futuro III Module 3: Event, Management & Competition will be in Indonesia on 12-16 August 2009.

The Futuro III Module 4: Club Management & Club Licensing will be in Thailand from 7 April 2009 onwards, whereas the Administration Course for Office and Event Staff for MAs will in Laos on 5-9 May 2009.

The Course for Newly Registered FIFA Referees will be organised in Cambodia from 6 July 2009 onwards with the Course for Futsal Referees to be held in Vietnam in early June.

While the courses have been confirmed for 2009, the exact dates of all the courses will be subjected to final confirmation.

The Western NSW Futsal Association is starting a Winter Futsal competition at the Wallerawang Indoor Centre.

Official competition regulations, FIFA Futsal laws of the game, qualified Futsal referees and administration will apply.

Who can play? Minis, junior boys and girls, seniors men and women.

Registration, administration and game fees apply.

Wednesday will be juniors and seniors, Fridays minis and juniors.

A Winter competition will run from May to August and registration closes on May 11.

Looking for something for the kids to do in the holidays?

Indoor soccer, Futsal coaching clinics will be played on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday April 21 to 23.

The cost would be $10 per child per an hour.

Register your interest in the clinics so organisers can plan for numbers and have the right amount of accredited Futsal coaches available.

Registration closes on April 14.

Some fantastic news for Sunshine Coast Futsal today comes out of Germany. Iona Voyce a member of Sunshine Coast Futsal has been living in germany the past couple of years and whilst there has been helping out the German Football Federation in the development of Futsal. Iona was asked to coach the Futsal Panthers from KOLN and was the head coach just last week when the won the German Futsal Cup. Victory gives them the opportunity to compete later in the year in the EUFA Cup which Iona is very excited about. There are a few photos below and a link to a highlights video on the german federation site.

Futsal is a 5-aside football game, played indoors with a weighted ball that gives the players a little more control. Small sided games, such as Futsal is the ethos all over the world for developing football skills. Futsal is also a fun sport for the social player.

Capital City Futsal run the following leagues for youth in Wellington:

10-17 yr olds run between 4-6pm, Tuesdays, at the Wellington Chinese Sports and Cultural Center.

5-9 yr olds run between 4-6.30pm, Thursdays, at the Wellington Chinese Cultural Sports and Cultural Center.

Games are run during the school terms and are 30 minutes each.

Cost is $30 per team, per game.

There are cups and medals to be won with a prize giving at the end of each term.

Phoenix players attend prize giving when available throughout the season.

All registrations go into the draw to win free subs for the season.

Tasmanian Islanders Futsal Academy Gala Day 5th April 2009

This Sunday sees the Tasmanian Islanders Futsal Academy program finish off it’s summer programs with a North vs South Challenge which will pit 10 yr boys, 11 yr boys and 12 yr boys age group challenge their squad against the same age group at the other end of the state.

Northern Fusion Academy coaches Will Gee and Ben Jones will be keen to see their chargers thrash it out against the more established Southern Islanders Academy in a series of games.

The day is all about putting into place the skills and tactics developed throughout the 16 week summer program which has included trainings under State Academy Coach Corey Smith, Australian Under 19 representative Trent Pearce, Brazilian Import Igor Sao Jose, Former Hobart Zebras playmaker Romeo Frediani, Matilda’s World Cup star Joanne Burgess and Flavio Barcellos from Veranopolis Professional Futsal Club in Brazil.

We are hoping that the competition will be friendly and competitive and showcase the growing understanding and development of the game of Futsal within Tasmania.

This season we had over 150 kids statewide involved in the Islanders Futsal Academy and with more regions and clubs coming on board and the Winter Academy just around the corner the programs continue to prosper.
