Tasmanian Islanders Futsal Academy Gala Day 5th April 2009

This Sunday sees the Tasmanian Islanders Futsal Academy program finish off it’s summer programs with a North vs South Challenge which will pit 10 yr boys, 11 yr boys and 12 yr boys age group challenge their squad against the same age group at the other end of the state.
Northern Fusion Academy coaches Will Gee and Ben Jones will be keen to see their chargers thrash it out against the more established Southern Islanders Academy in a series of games.
The day is all about putting into place the skills and tactics developed throughout the 16 week summer program which has included trainings under State Academy Coach Corey Smith, Australian Under 19 representative Trent Pearce, Brazilian Import Igor Sao Jose, Former Hobart Zebras playmaker Romeo Frediani, Matilda’s World Cup star Joanne Burgess and Flavio Barcellos from Veranopolis Professional Futsal Club in Brazil.
We are hoping that the competition will be friendly and competitive and showcase the growing understanding and development of the game of Futsal within Tasmania.
This season we had over 150 kids statewide involved in the Islanders Futsal Academy and with more regions and clubs coming on board and the Winter Academy just around the corner the programs continue to prosper.
