In recent weeks some of our close neighbours have experienced Natural Disasters that at times defy comprehension here in New Zealand.
Vikings Futsal NZ has launched an Appeal through the Month of October to raise funds to go to the Philippines and Samoa to assist the Red Cross in each of the countries.
The flooding in the Philippines has killed 600 and left thousands homeless. Vikings Futsal NZ has a very close relationship with Futsal in the Philippines with their womens team visiting NZ last year and the NZ women will play them in China next month. The Philippines coaching staff have contacted us to say they are all safe and well but some have lost possessions and have family members that have lost homes.
The Tsunami in Samoa has left the small Island Nation in mourning as the clean up and search for bodies and loved ones continues. Auckland is in fact the largest Samoan city in the world tying New Zealand very closely to this tragedy.
The collections will take place at Futsal nights in Dunedin and Christchurch as well as the South Island Futsal Championships in Timaru October 24th – 26th.
If you are outside of the Dunedin or Christchurch collection points and still wish to make a donation please contact Vikings Futsal NZ on (03) 383 8285.
