Australia Women’s Team have first win
Aussie starts the tournament with a 6-0 win over Phillipines
The Australian Women’s Futsal team recorded their first win against the Phillipines yesterday in China.
Co-Captain Nichole Laws led the team straight into the attack after an extensive warm-up. The team was unfortunate not go a goal up in the first five minutes. It was not long after Renee Tomkins executed a perfect shot under pressure to get the first goal.
Goal Keeper, Amanda Horafis was next to get on the score sheet, with some great work in front of the goals from Australian attackers, blocking the Phillipines keeper from the shot.
The team settled into the game with some extensive passing that had the Phillipines scrambling.
After a third goal by Nicola Eagle, the Phillipines started to press Australia in their half but the leadership from pivot, Nichole Laws kept Australia solid in defence.
Jade Banks put another goal in the net to lead the team into a secure position of 4-0 at half time.
After the break the Phillipines come out with more composure and created multiple chances, however did not score.
Jasmin Kent was next to score, followed by a second from Renee Tomkins.
With some terrrific goal keeper by Gina Vuksanovic, the team finished the game with a clean sheet, winning 6-0.
National coach, Nicola Zammit was very happy with the way the girls played and is confident going into their next game today against Foshan.

congratulations girls, the women seem to have more success overseas than the men when given the chance.
