Australian Women take home the trophy (Vikings)

A 5-3 win over NZ seals the trophy for Australia

Logo - VikingsAfter another two wins from the Aussie Women yesterday morning, they progressed through to the final, winning 5-3 against trans-tasman rivals New Zealand.

National Coach, Nicola Zammit was extremely happy with the way the team played. Two goals were scored by Nichole Laws, followed by a goal each to Renee Tomkins, Beejay Apolzgen and Jade Banks.

The team played earlier that morning against New Zealand in a qualifying match, in which Australia played a very physical game against the kiwi’s. The game saw Jasmin Kent and her New Zealand opponent sent off when the game was bought into disrepute. Australia went on to win the game 2-0 with goals from Renee Tomkins and Kate Lutkins. Due to injury goal keeper Gina Vuksanovic was ommitted from the line up.

Australia’s last round was against Shengli. The team won the game 14-0, giving them a well deserved rest prior to the final against New Zealand.
