Australian Womens Futsal team off to China

The Vikings National Womens team depart this week to compete in an 8 team tournament in China

The Australian Women’s Futsal team departed for China this week to compete in an 8 team international provincial tournament. Australia are in Group 1 and will face the Phillipines, Foshan and Guangzhou. Group 2 consists of New Zealand, Shegli, Panyu Shilou and Guanzhou Province.

Australia are looking to cement their first win against the Phillipines on Friday. The last time the two teams competed against each other, Australia defeated them convincingly however national coach, Nicola Zammit is certain their opposition has improved and will be a more formidable opponent this time round.

Australia will go on to compete against Foshan and Guagzhou on Saturday. The semi-final and grand final, on Sunday, will see the two pools cross over to determine the Championship team.

During their stay the team will host an exhibition training session at an elementary school and train conveniently on the roof of their hotel which has 3 futsal courts on it.

    Girls play at 4pm Sydney time today…
    Hopefully get off to a good start…
    They did a clinic yesterday at a local primary school and the chinese were very excited and treated them as celebrities. A great feeling for any female playing futsal player!
