Only 2 of your U12’s boys make it to state, and you are getting rid of one of those boys. We know why but I bet the heirachy cover their butts and make up a reason.

    yeswell on November 30th, 2009 9:40 pm

Sounds like someone is a bit sour they aren’t topping the Club Championship…

    James on December 1st, 2009 8:30 am

yeswell…what part of our website did you have a problem with to warrant your comment?

    futsaldad on December 1st, 2009 2:09 pm

Just tall poppy syndrome futsaldad… sour grapes because IWAS are a club that puts the work in and is successful for it

    James on December 1st, 2009 2:17 pm

Futsaldad the part where Allstars are getting rid of one of their only 2 state U12’s boys.
Club championships to me, mean absolutely SFA.

    yeswell on December 1st, 2009 2:54 pm

yeswell, the club isnt trying to get rid of anyone.
Think you might need to get your facts right before posting on here.

    joe on December 1st, 2009 3:09 pm

yeswell…..if the club championship means nothing, why do people (who say it means nothing) keep bringing it up?

If it truly was unimportant people wouldn’t be posting comments about it.

    futsaldad on December 1st, 2009 4:10 pm

I think that everyone is resigned to the fact that Allstars will be club champions (mainly due to the influx from Magic) and what is important now is who wins each age group.

    Simon on December 1st, 2009 6:41 pm

I am curious to see how many stars they put on their shirts next year…

    Curious on December 1st, 2009 9:06 pm

    Curious

They can only put 1 star, as this will be their first.

    The rest is history.

Goodluck to them, they have set a new benchmark.

    Lorenzo D'Addona on December 1st, 2009 9:48 pm

Thats right Curious as Lorenzo said they should only put 1 on cause they have only won 1.
Lorenzo why do u have a star on your jerseys? You havent won a Club Championship

    dannyboy on December 1st, 2009 10:47 pm

Except for the one Benefica won last year dannyboy

    James on December 2nd, 2009 11:15 am

    Dannyboy

Obviously we won a Club Championship to gain promotion. Being Super League, is the reason why we didn’t put it near our emblem. It was more in recognition of our acheivements last year and will always be a part of our history.

The star also has a white outline around it.

    Hope that’s ok

    Lorenzo D'Addona on December 2nd, 2009 11:19 am

I think people should just shut up and worry about there own than worry about anyone else. what gives me the shits as a parent is reading everyone’s crap on a post that doesn’t need to be commented on. If we want the sport to go ahead we have to stop doing these little things that we are doing and work together. There are other issues out there that we have to worry about than who IWAS have lost, club championship and so on. IWAS have sent the benchmark Like Lorenzo has said and well done to them. And for the record its only 1 star this year, many more to come the years after.

    Marco V on December 2nd, 2009 1:07 pm

@lorenzo if you think putting a star on your jersey to celebrate your club being part of and winning a second rate league is something you want on your jersey then happy days.
Its ridiculous that you put a star winning second divsion whilst other clubs have the same on theirs for winning the first division.
Maybe you can put a moon on yours as well if you get relegated =)

    dannyboy on December 2nd, 2009 1:24 pm

dannyboy you are a tool!! who cares hey.. good on them at benfica for realising their achievement was good and trying to build on it….

they have done nothing wrong and as lorenzo said the star is different as they acknowledge it was super league… but im sure over the years as they play.. that star will probably be the sweetest of them all if yu were to ask the coaches players and members of the club……

    wondering on December 2nd, 2009 1:38 pm

I think every championship, team or club, is worthy of celebration and note. Everything is relative. Personally I think Benfica have done a great job in recent years.

    futsaldad on December 2nd, 2009 1:41 pm

i agree futsaldad, but i dont see how Benfica star is worth the same to say allstars if they win with their star.
Its the same thing but is worth totally different.

    dannyboy on December 2nd, 2009 1:49 pm

maybe benfica EARNT their star,…. didnt buy it like IWAS….

    wondering on December 2nd, 2009 1:55 pm

What did they buy all the players or soemthing ??
Not that I give a shit. But did they?
Earnt their star…………. they played in 2nd division, promotion was their reward not a star.

    dannyboy on December 2nd, 2009 2:02 pm

    Dannyboy

Not that it is any of your business, but the star if it remains on the jersey next year, will be changed to silver, representing super league.

Club Championships are not the be all and end all.

Our aim is to survive this year and build.

As long as our culture remains the same and everyone at the club is happy……that’s what counts.

Dannyboy, can you name the other club who has a star on it representing winning a Premier League Club Championship. Not sure if Sydney City do…………and Sydney Magic don’t exist anymore. Taking nothing away from them, they did win 4 in a row.

To work hard like we have………that star means a hell of a lot champ.

Maybe if you have the balls, go join a Super League club and toil away week in week out, in your 2nd tiered competition as you put it. Then, if you gain promotion winning the Super League CC……….tell me what that star is worth.

It means a hell of alot to players past and present.

@ “Wondering” whoever wins it this year, will have earnt it, NOT BOUGHT IT

    Lorenzo D'Addona on December 2nd, 2009 2:19 pm

IMO Super League is not a second rate competition. It may be Sydney’s 2nd division but is still better than most other competitions in the country.

@ dannyboy , you do sound bitter. If you got off your @55 and did something for the sport other than whinge, you may appreciate the efforts of others. There are many players and officials who put lots of voluntary hours in making the Sydney PL/SL the best in the country (which it is).

For the love of the game on December 2nd, 2009 3:04 pm

joe, ask the boy what was said to him after Quake beat IWAS in the u16’s?

    yeswell on December 3rd, 2009 4:04 am

I sat on a football club committee who had two older ladies (hearts in the right place but OMG !) debating for hours on whether the touring u/12 team should wear blue or white T-shirts……..35 years later I see the debate has switched to STARS on a shirt ??????? Glad to see how much football/futsal has progressed in
    NSW.
You guys really have missed me, eh ?

    F.Sala on December 3rd, 2009 5:15 am

    F.Sala

It’s not often I agree with you, but if it’s stars and moons that we are worried about………….then the sport must be ok !!!

    Not

    Lorenzo D'Addona on December 3rd, 2009 7:41 am

fsala where have you been thought you might have come back to sydney.

    futsalfanatic on December 3rd, 2009 9:17 am

Ha, ha….winning the club championship isn’t worth anything? SL is second tier, not second rate. The winner goes up to PL so there must be a degree of imporance to the whole thing.
Some people make me laugh. They reckon they care about the sport but they are so insular. To be whinging about a club having a well deserved star on their jersey is pure pettiness.
Sydney Benfica have worked their tails off over the last couple of seasons to achieve promotion to the PL. They deserve congratulations for their efforts in winning their way through. Lorenzo has been an inspiration to everyone at the club and deseves enormous credit for taking the club forward. Benfica will still be in the PL next season. You can be sure that they’ll be bigger and better with this season’s experience behind them.
All Stars, should they win the Club Championship, will be worthy winners. Good luck to them. But the sport is never all about one club.

    Ross on December 3rd, 2009 12:25 pm

“joe, ask the boy what was said to him after Quake beat IWAS in the u16’s?”

yeswell how about you tell us?

    futsaldad on December 3rd, 2009 12:59 pm

    Not up to me futsaldad.

However the coach needs to learn that you can follow two clubs at once, and it doesn’t diminish your loyalty to your particular team.

    yeswell on December 3rd, 2009 2:56 pm

yeswell no one cares nor cared that the kids sister played for quake.
Your barking up the wrong tree on that one.
    Whats your next story…………..?

    joe on December 3rd, 2009 3:32 pm

@ Ross, well said. Benfica worked hard for the results they achieved. A very polished effort.

I usually watch SL and the level competition is very high. IMO most SL teams would be very competitive if not win against most other state teams.

Look at last years FFA Nationals. The South Coast Tipans (a SL team) entered their youth women and made it to the finals (by beating NSW Thunder). A good effort indeed.

For the love of the game on December 3rd, 2009 4:04 pm

futsalfanatic…….Ive been O/S spreading the futsal word (mainly Vikings of course). Didn;t take my laptop so couldn’t keep up with all the soopa poopa league results and the usual accompanying bickering…buts its fun to sit back and watch them arguing eh ? Hahahahaha

    F.Sala on December 3rd, 2009 8:58 pm

Hey Lorrie, there’s probably a lot more we agree about…….if we left our respective caps on the table. Futsal is not in a healthy position but some dont seem to care……….Talk up the Soopa poopa leagues and we will forget about everything else. Close our eyes long enough and it may all go away ! Yeah right !

    F.Sala on December 3rd, 2009 9:09 pm

fsala trips aoverseas, hey beats trying to run comps at engadine.

    futsalfanatic on December 3rd, 2009 9:14 pm

futsalfanatic, dont really get your point, but if YOU say so !

    F.Sala on December 4th, 2009 5:20 am

Joe, even in jest something such as “We better deregister you,” should never be said to a 12yr old.

    yeswell on December 4th, 2009 8:01 am

ian just saying you have come a long way from running comps at engadine in your little red volvo, sorry fsala.
