NZ 12/13 boys lead the way in Australia

A report from the NZ boys at the recent Vikings country titles

nz_boysSundays country titles in balmy north brisbane saw both NZ teams stun their Australian counterparts with some fantastic Futsal. The NZ 13’s were playing up a grade or two and Denis Tapp masterminded an astonishing victory against a 16th grade Brisbane country team, winning 6-5 in an enthralling encounter. Many players and coaches alike congratulated Denis and his team on their never say die attitude and clinical finishing. Led by goal machine Josh Logan and the creative force of Daniel Ramsey the 13’s will go well in the coming week.

The NZ 12’s maintained a 100% winning record throughout Sundays tournament playing 7 games and winning 9-1 in their final game. The boys went from strength to strength and even though fatigue set in they were in control of all their games and never looked like losing.

Both the team and the individual players improved over the course of the tournament with every player scoring in a day that saw glimpses of total Futsal. Our youngest player, Joe Bell came away with player of the day after showing skill, fantastic movement and understanding far in advance of his years (10). All the boys can be extremely proud of their contribution as they look to unlock their boundless potential of this team.

With development the ultimate goal I am extremely pleased with the progress shown in such a short space of time. The boys are currently training with Gui Coster, NZ mens coach who will be keeping a close eye on these boys in future years, at their current rate of development they could be included in Gui’s squads sooner than we think. I am positive everyone will see the improvement in the boys play once they return home to their various regions. All are well and have risen to the challenge of touring overseas.

Not totally accurate. Agreat team and very well coached but I think they may have forgotten a round robin game against G Rangers they were lucky to win 1-0. G Rangers are a team of 11 year olds + 1 8year old and 1 9year old. Bar 1 player all the others have had no formal training and average only 6 games experience. We’ll gladly play them again. It was a great game of skill and very fair
