NZ Women Huge Hit in China (Vikings)
NZ and Aussie Womens teams get a great reception at Tiejun Middle School
The New Zealand women probably have a larger Fan base in China than New Zealand after a day of meet and greets.
The girls were guests at Tiejun Middle School along with the Philippine and Australian teams and were greated like hero’s. The school children loved every minute of meeting the New Zealanders and enthusiastically shook their hads took their pictures and gained autographs.
The school was to play host to a New Zealand v Philippines game but persistant rain ment the game couldn’t be played so the girls put their coaching skills to the test and guided a select group of students through some skills.
After 2 hours of autographs, tv interviews and photographs the team reluctantly said their goodbyes knowing they had made thousands of new fans. This was moment the women would never forget and one that has them fired up for their first game today at 4pm (9pm NZ time) against Chengdu.
