Sarah Hasted is hoping to be selected for next year’s Futsal World Cup.

Sunshine Coast futsal player Sarah Hasted is a chance to contest her second World Cup next year in Argentina.

Hasted was a member of the Australian team that recently toured China with great success.

The World Cup touring side will be selected at January’s national titles in Sydney.

The team claimed gold in a tournament against seven other countries including the Philippines and New Zealand.

After winning all their pool matches, Hasted’s team went on to face NZ in the final.

They defeated the Kiwis 5-3 to cap off a perfect competition.

Australia faced NZ in an earlier qualifying final, finishing 2-0 victors to progress to the grand final.

Hasted played in the 2008 World Cup in Spain and will travel to Brazil for training before the tournament, which will be held in October, if she makes the squad selected early next year.

This report IS wrong… was just 6 teams NZ, OZ, Philippines and teams from China, Hong Kong and Macau.

Was a great event and was exciting to see the women finally getting the chance to play on the international stage, something that has been sorely lacking.

Looks like Korea and Thailand will be in for the next event and a side from the UK. Whatever happens am just pleased to see teams other than Snr Men playing.
