Well done to all the Benfica players but specifically the girls who have done so well. Great to see 8 of my old Under 16 Girls team selected. Congratulations ladies!

There was only 1 girl trialling for the U15’s this year Ross. What happened?

    gylmum on November 20th, 2009 3:28 pm

Sorry, my mistake. Thinking of someone else. However there was one of your girls that was in lightning last year that didn’t trial this year.

Think youll find that JDP isnt in the Mens Thunder team.

I think you will find there are a couple on that list that are actually shadow players and will not get the chance to go to Nationals.

Sad to see such low numbers trialling in the younger girls age groups.. only 22-26 kids in some ages (12s+)

Maybe low numbers but was the quality there? I can remember a few years back that girls were trialling who really weren’t up to the standard required.

gyimum…..There was one of my Benfica girls who didn’t trial this year. She was in the Lightning 14’s last year, I think. Not sure why that player decided to opt out this year. I’m proud that the girls got such a good representation this season. As can be seen by their state title results and their win over the competition leaders last round the Benfica 16 Girls are good enough to beat anyone when they click. With someone as knowledgable as Ian in charge of the side now I’m sure the girls will continue to improve.

Ross looking at the results on the FNSW site, it just makes one wonder what is happening when Benfica beat Quake, then Raiders beat Benfica, then Quake beat Raiders.
Maybe it is the different styles of play, but who knows. Will be interesting to see the results this coming round.
