Strikers Futsal News (VIC)

News on Vic Club Championship teams and Super League A and B Grade winners

NEWS ON STRIKERS JUNIORS TEAMS FOR VICTORIAN CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

During January and February Strikers coaches and officials will be selecting squads for participation in the 2010 Victorian Junior Club Futsal Championships to be held in Bendigo.

Squads of 12 will be selected in the U’11, U’12, U’13, U’14, U’15 and U’16 age groups. Training will then be organised in the lead up to the tournament during the July school holiday’s. Final squads will be comprised of between 8 and 10 players.

Coaches will be selected based on their availabilty and their willingness to get involved. Any prospective coaches need to see Robert by the end of January.

As many know, we did extremely well in the last State Championships finishing winners and runners up in the 16’s and 14’s respectively, and our 13’s and 11’s finished 3rd. Since then our senior team has won the Melbourne Futsal League and our 11’s are comprehensively leading their competition. This can only put us in a great position for the State Championships.

Please look out for more news in the lead up to the State Championships.

NEWCOMERS SHPITZ F.C TAKE OUT SUPER LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP

strikers_shpitz

Shpitz F.C have shocked perenial favourites Zeljo to take out the A Grade Super League Championships. In a highly impressive and entertaining affair Shpitz F.C kicked away in the second half to run out deserved winners. Once again star player Marijan Cvitkovic was outstanding with a couple of goals, with Zeljo unable to control his brilliant dribbling and pin-point passing. The goal keeper for Shpitz had a great first half keeping out Zeljo when Zeljo looked particularly dangerous. A string of great saves and some hesitancy in front of goal from Zeljo saw them miss out on some great opportunities. With a slight lead at half time of 4 to 3, Shpitz then turned on the gas and piled on the goals to secure victory 9:4. Shpitz seemed to have all the answers with a solid defense and a speedy and effective counter attack.

Zeljo will be looking at exacting revenge on Shpitz, especially as the champions have now moved to Monday nights to further strengthen the already powerful Monday night competition.

Goal scorers:
Shpitz: Michael 4, Tony 2, Marijan 2, Ante 1
Zeljo: Irzad 2, Alija 2

YOUNG GUNS A CLASS OF THEIR OWN

strikers_young_guns

Young Guns have taken out the B Grade Super League Championships by defeating a strong Ninjured 11 goals to 6. Having lead the ladder all year, one could not begrudge the Young Guns this win. They have been clearly the best side in the B Grade, and will be no doubt licking their lips in anticipation of the impending promotion to Monday night A Grade. A very even contribution from all players of the Young Guns saw them take the lead early and maintain the focus throughout the match. The Ninjured battled hard with MVP Angelo battling hard to put his team back in the game. The strong crowd were treated to a high quality match, with both teams showing a 100% work ethic and great sportmanship. Both teams will go into the Summer break no doubt looking at improving further in the 2010 summer season.

Chloe Perry selected for the Victorian u14 Girls state futsal team to compete in Canberra

Bullengarook soccer sports star Chloe Perry

Rising soccer star Chloe Perry’s team attitude and accurate left-footed cross have not gone unnoticed by coaches.

Chloe, 13, was selected for the Victorian under-14 girls state futsal team, to compete in Canberra next month.

The Bullengarook girl was also chosen as team captain for the under-15 girls Victorian Champions League’s north west zone soccer team, selected for next year’s under-15 state competition.

Chloe, who is a left midfielder, said getting selected for a captain’s spot was one of her happiest moments.

“It’s my first time to be captain, so I am really happy,” Chloe said.

“My goal as captain is to be a good team player and make sure the girls are not sore losers.

“I want to be a good role model, and show how to act both on and off the park.”

Her accomplishments are impressive considering it was Chloe’s first year to play a full season with girls’ team the Essendon Royals under-15 side.

Before this year she played eight years on mixed teams in Gisborne, and represented Victoria for a week in last year’s under-13 girls’ country state squad.

Mum Tracee Perry said her daughter had a passion for the game, and the enthusiasm was catching.

“When we moved to Gisborne in 2001, Chloe said she wanted to play soccer, but I tried to talk her out of it because I didn’t follow it,” Ms Perry said.

“She was extremely persistent, and it became her dream.

“Now I love it and we sit up late at night to watch games together.”

Ms Perry said her daughter was dedicated and trained at least four times a week with various teams.

Chloe is a Year 8 student at Gisborne Secondary College.

Her goal is to one day play for the Matildas, the Australian women’s soccer team.

Chloe is a Leader junior sports star of the week.

Mates on the ball (QLD)

Friends Callum Tretter, Richard Vaughan and Oliver Bailye will all play in the Under-15 division of the Vikings National Champs.

Ocean View’s Callum Tretter, left, will take on Samford Village’s Richard Vaughan and Yugar’s Oliver Bailye at the national futsal championships in Sydney.

Ocean View’s Callum Tretter, left, will take on Samford Village’s Richard Vaughan and Yugar’s Oliver Bailye at the national futsal championships in Sydney.

Friendships will be cast aside – for 40 minutes at least – when a trio of local football aces take to the futsal field in Sydney next month.

Ocean View’s Callum Tretter will square off against mates Richard Vaughan and Oliver Bailye in the Under-15 division of the futsal national championships.

While the trio, all 15, are longtime teammates playing outdoor soccer for the Samford Rangers club, they will be on opposite sides of the field in Sydney with Queensland sending two teams south for a two-pronged maroon assault.

Tretter will represent Queensland City while Vaughan, from Samford Village, and Bailye, from Yugar, will line up for the Queensland Metro side at their first national championships, which start on 12 January.

While the two Queensland teams have been training together in the lead-up to the national titles, Bailye expects the pleasantries to cease when the whistle blows on kick-off for the City versus Metro clash.

“I have a feeling it won’t be that friendly once we get there (to Sydney),” Bailye said.

“We’re all staying in the one lodge but when we get out on the field I doubt it will be a friendly match. I think everyone will bring all stops out to try and beat each other.

“There’s a bit of nervousness representing your state and all eyes are on you to try and do well in the competition.

“I’ll just give it my best shot and train hard until then to try and give myself the best chance of doing well in the competition.”

Vaughan, who plays club futsal at Brendale alongside Tretter, is also looking forward to the challenge of his first time out playing for Queensland.

“It’s going to be really hard and challenging, but a good experience,” Vaughan said. “It will be good playing Cal and hopefully we’ll win.”

Tretter, who noted that playing mates “is good fun because you can always have a laugh”, said his Queensland City team was a good shot at winning the national title after finishing runner-up last summer.

“Last year we played Victoria in the final but lost, but this year we’ve got a pretty good side and we’ve got a good chance,” he said.

“We’re pretty strong but Victoria are pretty good too, and it’s good playing New South Wales – it’s always a bit different as all the boys are fired up.”

Tretter said futsal was a sport that rewarded speed, agility and skill.

“You have to have good touch because there’s not much space and it’s really quick, and when you get the ball straight away you have a player on you,” the striker said.

“In futsal you kind of work on the whole court and don’t really have positions … but I definitely want to play up forward and score goals.”

Cayden Liessi (Joyner), Jonathan Hawthorne (Warner), Georgina Bridges (Ferny Hills), Aiden Hagley (Albany Creek) and Blair Ferguson (Arana Hills) will also play at the national titles against teams from NSW, Tasmania, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia and New Zealand.
