A Dream Becomes Reality – Enfield Rovers (NSW)

Crowned NSW Super League Champions 2010

A dream that started early in 2007 became reality on Saturday 23rd January, 2010.

In the third season of the Super League Enfield Rovers Futsal Club were crowned the 2009-10 Super League Champions.

Round 13 the final round of the season and two clubs South Coast Taipans (211 points) and Enfield Rovers (202 points) were going for the ultimate prize of being crowned “Super League Champions”.

In the end after a long season and 107 games it all came down to the 108th and final game for the Rovers. The Rovers Open Men’s team had to win or draw the game for the Rovers to take the title.

South Coast earlier in the day had won 4, lost 4 and had a draw in the Women’s game.

Enfield going to the last game had won 7 and lost 1.

Meaning that the Open Men’s game was going to decide the Club Championship.

The atmosphere at Bankstown Stadium was amazing as the Rovers supporters were starting to celebrate as the men’s game started. Half-Time and the Rovers 5-0 in front were almost there.

With 25 min of the game remaining it was still not in the bag. With the Enfield supporters cheering the boys on, the men’s team did not disappoint and won the game 10-1.

Enfield Rovers the 2009-10 Super League Champions.

I would like to congratulate all players, coaches and managers and all the helpers (the behind the scenes people), parents and all the supporters for there effort this season.

It is the combined effort of the whole group that makes a successful club not any one individual.

To the players, coaches and managers who were with us in the first two seasons I would like to thank you as well as your effort also contributed to the Rovers success.

To our sponsor “Team MVLE” (Michael and Vanessa) a big thank you for your support this season and we look forward to working with you next season in the “Premier League”.

Unlucky for the Taipans whom set the bar, maybe next year for Colin and the crew!

To Boz, Rob and all the Enfield Clan………..Mission accomplished.

I remember the chat we had before the start of the season. To win by a point, is unbelievable.

To miss out by one point is a bitter pill to swallow, but it’s over the whole season, so well done and congratulations to everyone at Enfield. Maybe next year…….

I know how exciting it was last season to be part of Sydney Benfica when that club won promotion to the Futsal Premier League. Things weren’t quite as tight for us but the thrill when we found out we were “home” was very special.
Congratulations to everyone at Enfield Rovers on a great achievement. Good luck in the PL in 2010/2011.

Exciting times indeed! Bankstown was rocking. Just wanted to add that Rovers is a well run club and deserves their on-court success. Boz and his very special support crew get three stars for the behind-the-scenes work (including those fantastic newsletters!) PS Don’t change!
