The Sydney F-League calls for players (NSW)
Individual players who want to play but aren’t attached to a club are welcome to now register their interest
With under a week to go until entries close, The Sydney F-League wants to hear from players keen to be a part of the competition who have yet to be approached by a club.
“We know that there are clubs out there who are still looking for one or two players to fill out their rosters,” Paul Respicio said. “We want to make sure that no one is overlooked who wants to play at this level.”
17-year-old Nicholas Moye is one such player who wants to be included in the inaugural season. A futsal player since age seven, the talented goal keeper has played in the Football NSW Super League since under 12s and now plies his trade with Botany Bay Pirates Youth squad.
He has captained most sides he has played with and sees The Sydney F-League as a way forward for his futsal career, having decided to specialise in the sport. As a member of the Southern NSW side that won the Youth grade FFA National Championships in January, Nicholas’ passion for futsal is obvious.
Another player who has credentials to match the target player of The Sydney F-League is Masaki Nishijo. After playing football in lower divisions of the US Soccer Leagues, Nishijo signed for Diran Futsal Club in the Japanese 2nd Division before moving to Division 1 club Waffles Kyogo FC for the 08/09 season.
The flanker is currently a member of the Commodores FCB Men’s squad in the Football NSW Futsal Premier League.
“We know there are clubs out there who may have the backing to enter the league but may not have the personnel finalised. At this stage, the player lists we have seen are looking strong, but not invincible.
“If futsal is the game you want to play, if it’s where you see your round ball future, this is the competition to play in.” Respicio said.
Applications for entry to The Sydney F-League close on 29 January 2010.
