Solomon Star

The Solomon Islands National under-15 Futsal team won their opener on Monday night with a convincing win against their first opponents from South Australia.

The youth team kicked off their FFA National Futsal Championships campaign on a good start with a physical game against South Australia at South Cross basketball stadium, winning by 7 goals to 2.

However, in their second game yesterday afternoon they were held to a 4 all draw by tournament favorites’, the NSW lightening.

Both teams with their strong physical play could not break the dead lock by full time but now lead their category with Solomon Islands ahead on goal difference.

Meanwhile, the Under 12 national Futsal boys narrowly lost their first encounter against the young team from Australia, Victoria Magic.

The equally contested and high scoring game resulted in three bookings with the boys finally going down 4 goals to 10.

In their second game yesterday afternoon however they rebounded strongly by demolishing their opponents South Australian Gold 14 goals to 4.

Both teams will have to maintain their winning performance if they are to top the pools by the end of today.
