Premier League Semi Final Preview (NSW)

A good writeup on the various teams playing in the NSW Premier League Semi Finals Series

The Premier League final series kicks off this Saturday at Menai Indoor Sports Stadium. There will be some mouth-watering Futsal action!

U/12 Boys

1st Commodores FCB vs 2nd Sydney Benfica.

In what should be a Grand final preview these 2 standout sides of the competition have game breakers all over the court in particular Richie Darko and Panos Armenakas. The Commodores have the clear edge over everyone else in the competition and remain the clear competition favourites. Commodores have beaten Benfica twice during the competition but go into the semis with a loss.

3rd Inner West Allstars vs 4th Sydney City Eagles.

With both clubs having fought out 2 classic draws throughout the season this one promises to be another classic. Alisane Fofanah and Dominic Breckenbridge have been brilliant throughout the season for their respective sides and both will need to be at their best to see their teams progress.

u/14 Boys

1st Inner West Allstars vs 2nd Western Raiders

The Allstars have had a great season and were the only team that did the double over the Raiders, so they clearly have the upper hand. But write of the Raiders at your own peril, the team has clearly the best defensive record in the competition and wont be pushovers.

3rd Mascot Vipers vs 4th Sydney City Eagles

The Vipers were the pre competition favourites and the only team to have inflicted defeats to the top of the table Allstar side. A team loaded with talent, the Vipers amassed a whopping 78 goals this season. The Eagles finished 17 points clear from 5th and have beaten the Vipers twice during the competition.

u/14 Girls

1st Inner West Allstars vs 2nd Mascot Vipers

The Allstars have been perfect so far this season. Being the only team in the competition to have won 14 games straight. The Allstars have a clear advantage but you can’t write of the Vipers who have pushed the Allstars in both their games.

3rd Sydney City Eagles vs 4th Campbelltown Quake

This one could go either way. The Eagles finished a solitary 1 point clear of their opponents who in turn finished 8 points clear of 5th position. If the 2 competition games were anything to go by this one will be a very close encounter as the Eagles pipped Quake in both games by a single goal.

u/16 Boys

1st Inner West Allstars vs 2nd Campbelltown Quake

It came down to the final game of the season to separate these 2 teams and decide the Minor Premiership. The Allstars scored an emphatic victory to take the Minor Premiership and head into the final series full of confidence. Both teams split their regular season games winning their home fixtures. On a neutral venue this one should be a cracker.

3rd Mascot Vipers vs 4th Commodores FCB

The Vipers after a poor start to the season have gone on an incredible run of 9 wins from their past 10 games to surprising seal 3rd position, the Commodores who at one stage were leading the competition outright are a side who never gives in and are very strong defensively.

16 Girls

1st Inner West Allstars vs 2nd Mascot Vipers

The Inner West Allstars took out the minor Premiership in the final round of the competition to finish only 11 points ahead of the Vipers. Mascot are a side in superb form having beaten both Inner West and 3rd place Campbelltown in the past 3 weeks. Both teams split the regular season games and this one should be another nail biter.

3rd Campbelltown Quake vs 4th Sydney Benfica

Whilst Benfica are barely being mentioned in Championship winning calculations considering how far behind they finished behind the top 3, this Benfica side has the potential to cause a major boilover. Quake only surrendered top spot in the final game and are a very potent outfit.

Youth Mens

1st Inner West Allstars vs 2nd Sydney Benfica

This one should be an all out attack goal to goal nonstop thriller. Both teams have the mindset that the best way to defend is to attack, which leaves the crowd in for a game which should see plenty of goals. The teams split the 2 competittion games. This one is not one for the faint hearted.

3rd Mascot Vipers vs 4th Dural Warriors

This game will be of 2 completely different styles. The more structured Dural outfit against the attack minded and free spirited Vipers. In a competition where either of the 4 teams can beat each other, this elimination semi could be anything.

Open Womens

1st Campbelltown Quake vs 2nd Sydney City Eagles

The young brash Quake outfit have had a great season and take on the very experienced Eagles outfit. In a game of contrasting styles the young quake girls will need to be patient against the Eagles or could face defeat against a very well structured counter attacking team

3rd Mascot Vipers vs 4th Inner West Allstars

Two very open sides, last seasons all conquering Vipers side still have the ability to beat any team against them even though not currently in the best form, luckily for them Allstars are also not in hot form. Both teams love to attack and with both teams having won once each during the season, this one could come down to a last minute goal.

Open Mens

1st Inner West Allstars vs 2nd Campbelltown Quake

In another competition that came down to the final game, the Allstars sealed their first Minor Premiership in 5 years with a score draw against last seasons Finalists. Allstars have the upper hand having also beaten the Campbelltown based side this year but anyone that rules out a Quake side should know better. This one has all the possibility to go to penalties.

3rd Sydney City Eagles vs 4th Mascot Vipers

2 completely contrasting styles, the structured Eagles verses the free flowing Vipers. The Sydney City team have all the ingredients not only to win this one but go all the way and take the title even from 3rd position. The Vipers are an unpredictable side, and if the Vipers do manage to cause an upset stranger things have happened.
