The Sydney F-League extends entry deadline (NSW)

Deadline extended by two weeks to allow for clubs still involved in NSW Premier/Super leagues

The Sydney F-League announces that it has extended the deadline for entries by a further two weeks. Entries will be accepted up until midnight on February 12th, 2010.

“Speaking with the clubs who expressed and interest early on, we found that a couple of them were very keen to enter but had been unable to finalise their entries due to the demands of the Football NSW Futsal State League season”, The Sydney F-League General Manager, Paul Respicio, said when asked about the reason for the change.

“Let’s be clear; this is not a stalling tactic – This league will kick off on April 10th” Respicio confirmed. “We are simply making sure that our timeline doesn’t stop clubs entering who otherwise would have missed the January deadline. The Football NSW Futsal State League is where the focus is at the moment and we recognise that.

“We also wanted to point out to the few who doubted this league would get off the ground that in season two we will show loyalty to the foundation clubs. It won’t be as easy to join The Sydney F-League come 2011.

“Some had suggested that we wouldn’t get the interest to form the league because of players moving back to football for winter. But there are players who want to play futsal year round, who are not footballers and who need a league of this calibre to cater for them.”

Respicio realises however there are obstacles facing players who want to get in on the League. “The biggest problem that we have encountered has been players knowing where to go if their State League club is not entering. The clubs have been mostly silent.

“We would encourage any club looking at entering The Sydney F-League to post an article on their own website or on a futsal specific site like Futsal4All.com.au” Respicio urged.

“All clubs are affected by players moving back to football, but the holes can be filled. Clubs that advertise their entry to the league may be surprised at who knocks on their door.”
