The passports are ready and the days are being counted down by Ballarat youngsters Dejan Mitrovic and Jackson Leach.
The pair is eagerly awaiting their international futsal experience, which takes them to New Zealand’s south island next month.
Mitrovic and Leach have both been selected in the Australian Vikings Dalponte futsal team, following their standout performances for Victoria at the national school titles in Albury last year.
The two were among a host of Ballarat players selected to play at the championships, but will be the only Victorians on the boys’ tour.
The trip will take in Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin, where players will embark on futsal training, games and tournaments against local representative teams.
Mitrovic and Leach will join the Vikings Futsal Association 12-under boys’ team, with the association also taking a 12 to 13-year-old girls squad.
The tour will not only focus on futsal, but also offer players the opportunity to visit New Zealand attractions including a traditional Maori Hangi meal and presentation, jet boating, a skyline gondola, a Hagglund ride in Hanmer Springs, and a visit to the Cadbury factory.
The tour commences on May 14 and runs until May 26.
