New Zealand Futsal Association Incorporated
Futsal gets another big boost in NZ
15 July, 2010
New Zealand Futsal Association and Vikings Futsal New Zealand have teamed up to give New Zealand comprehensive coverage of the sport of Futsal.
VFNZ will look after the management arm of the sport, including the provinces and all leagues that happen within them while the New Zealand Futsal Association Inc will look after the governance of the sport in New Zealand.
For the first time the Sport of Futsal will have true representation around New Zealand and on an international stage. Both organisations are dedicated only to the running and development of the Sport of Futsal year round.
VFNZ has over 5000 members playing in New Zealand and with sign on starting at the begining of August the 2010/11 season looks set to see record numbers. Nelson, Blenheim, Wellington, Palmerston North and the Waikato look to be the big movers within the sport.
New Zealand Futsal Association Inc will look after the governance of Futsal in New Zealand and will look to work with some existing operations around the country along with Vikings Futsal NZ in continuing the growth already seen. The organisation will also look after the running of the National Provincial Championships for senior and junior provincial representative sides along with the various School Championships and tournaments held every year.
The NZFA will also be responsibale for the Senior Men, Women and Age group National Teams that are selected each year to participate in various world tournaments.
New NZFA CEO, Paul Wadsworth, is very excited about the future for the sport. “It is exciting times for an exciting sport and for the first time the sport will be recognised as a sport in it’s own rights”. “The Futsal Fans in New Zealand now have a proffesional process set up that will offer true governance and management of the sport in a coordinated manner, which can only be good for the sport”.
James Vaughan has been appointed CEO of Vikings Futsal NZ.
