The Bellingen High School Futsal teams have done so well that four teams have qualified for the Australian Championships to be held at Runaway Bay. While this is a great achievement it became apparent that to qualify is one thing but to get there is another. The championships are held over three days so with accommodation and travel costs it appeared some of our students would not be able to make the trip. As the quality of the championships is very high it is crucial not to lose any players. So the players looked for support from the community and were not disappointed.

Two major contributors were Bellingen Diggers Swimming Club who donated $400, money raised from Friday night raffles, while the Ocean View Hotel donated $500 towards the teams. Other large donations have been received from Anchors Wharf, Eve Beauty and Nails, C.A.Delahunty Pty Ltd and smaller donations from Cutz Both Ways, Urunga Hardware and Urunga Post Office. As well as this many other businesses donated prizes for a raffle which the players have been selling. So thanks must go to Anchors Wharf (again), Urunga Foodworks , Urunga Jewelers, Bellingen Pharmacy, Norco Co-op Ltd, Bellingen IGA, Fullers and Federal Hotel Bellingen. The players have also organised a car wash and a pizza day (with the help of Donna Stanmore) to raise further funds.

So it looks like all the players will be going to Runaway Bay thanks to the community support! Thank you!
