The 7 “Mini guns” from FNC NSW are going from strength to strength beating their arch nemesis Sunshine Coast 5-2 at Caloundra on the weekend in round 4 of the Queensland Summer Futsal League (indoor soccer). Earlier in the day they demolished the Gold Coast representative team 8 goals to 5.
The young guns are in the U10 NSW Far North Coast touring team and have been travelling all over southern Queensland and also competed in the NSW Titles in Sydney over the last few months. The boys all live around the Byron Shire and play in the Mullumbimby competition during the week. They are currently in second place in the Queensland Futsal League and have scored a massive 43 goals in 8 games. Last weekend’s win against the competition leaders Sunshine Coast was hard fought and a sweet victory as the boys won even without the help of their injured specialist goal keeper Mark Starrett.
Coach Tim Knight said ”The Sunshine Coast team is a very classy and well drilled outfit, however our boys have been playing really well over the last few weeks perfecting our game tactics, fine tuning their skills and they are really starting to play excellent Futsal” They are playing in every high level tournament they can and loving every minute.
Manager Clinton Hart said ”Its great to think we have so much emerging young talent here in Byron Shire that is as good as any team in Queensland or Sydney”. The Boys will travel to Cornubia stadium in Brisbane for the next round of the State League. On past performance they are quietly confident they can continue their winning streak against the Brisbane representative team and nudge closer to 1st position on the Queensland Futsal League table.
