FNSW Winter Futsal League (F-League) Expressions of Interest
NSW looks to be leading the way for Futsal again with F-League back on the cards
17 February, 2011
Football NSW is pleased to announce the establishment of its newest Futsal competition. Taking place in the 2011 winter season, the F-League will be the first Futsal competition to play under full international conditions since National League ventures of the 1990s.
The F-League will consist of open male and open female competitions and is open to all member clubs of Football NSW. It is expected the competition will commence in May 2011 and conclude in August. Football Federation Australia have endorsed the F-League and recognize the benefits for Futsal players playing all year round.
This competition is expected to become the development pathway for Futsal players to progress to state and national team honors in NSW.
Football NSW would like to extend an invitation to all member clubs and associations to apply for entry to this exciting new competition.

Any player serious about playing futsal year round and under international rules should get into this. Well done FNSW!

The idea is great, however, for a team to train over the 5 months of the competition (about 20 sessions – once a week – 1.5 hours per session), will cost our club $2,700.
If you double it for Men and Women, at $5,400 per club, it becomes an expensive exercise. Not to mention the fees the FNSW will charge to cover the costs of the comp.
Our sport is expensive due to court hire (at about $90 per hour to hire a double court).
And yes, my club needs to go out and secure sponsorship, but sponsorship of $5k does not come easy!
not being negative, just realistic. having to ask the players to pay some $200+ to play may be ok to some…but not to others…..we’ll see!

Hi Carlos. The choice here is for players to choose between football or futsal during winter. Some football clubs charge up to $1,000.00 for their older age groups so playing in the F League is not more expensive, just more of a personal choice. If a player is 20+ and not playing at the highest level in football, it may be time to consider pursuing State or Australian futsal honours instead.
