School teams honoured at ‘Hasting’s Sports Awards’ (NSW)

The 2011 Hastings Sports Awards proved to be a great success for all involved. This years event was held at the Port Macquarie Jockey Club where the ‘who’s who’ of the Hastings sporting community were in attendance.
The 2011 event was a boost for Vikings Futsal who’s member’s featured prominantly throughout the awards. Futsal Development officer for the Mid North Coast of NSW, Alison Fazzolari spoke of the shared recognition the Futsal community received at the ceremony. “Many big names from all sports were in attendance and it was very pleasing that Vikings Futsal were entered in 3 categories”. She also spoke about her connections the star of the show Lauren Kitchen who is recognised for her world class cycling achievments. “Interestingly the Winner of the Sportsperson of the Year was Lauren Kitchen, she as a junior (up to 14 yrs) always played soccer and was in my special train on squads. We invited her to come down for a game of Futsal and she took up the offer very keenly.
Congatulations to all nominee’s along with the Westport High School U19 girls futsal team and the Camden Haven High School U19 boys futsal team who shared the winning honours in the ‘open team’ category as a result of their un-rivalled success at the Vikings Futsal School Titles. Well done for getting Futsal the recognition it deserves within the Hastings community.

Masters women – Kim Chilton
Sportsperson with a disability – Ryley Batt
Junior team – Tacking Point School boys cricket team
Open team – Westport High School U19 girls futsal team/Camden Haven High School U19 boys futsal team
Services to sport – Alan Witchard
