The defending champions took out the 2011 Unity Cup in a convincing five goals to nil win over Oghab on Sunday 27th February.
After a long day of many games at the Hills Sports Stadium the championship game started at 5pm. Shahab scored their first goal early in the first half and never looked like losing from there. Oghab put up a brave fight but were outclassed by a better team on the day. The two teams also met in the preliminary round which started at 9am. The result of that game also went Shahab’s way 5-3.
This year’s Unity Cup had 14 participating teams from Sydney metro, northern and southern NSW . They played in two groups of seven with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the finals. The spectators were treated with some excellent Futsal played throughout the day and every team enjoyed the superb atmosphere.
Unity Cup is a one day Futsal tournament into its ninth year. The aim of the tournament is to promote unity and fellowship amongst the members of the local and wider community and various backgrounds. It offers a safe and well organised environment for everyone to enjoy a fun sporting activity. The tournament is open to everyone aged fifteen and over.
