F-League 2011 ready for kick-off this weekend

The inaugural F-League competition is set for the official kick-off this Saturday May 14th and Sunday May 15th at the wonderful Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium at South Windsor as Futsal sets sail for an exciting new era.

Run by Football NSW and endorsed by Football Federation Australia, the F-League aims to become the most professional futsal competition in Sydney and ultimately Australia.

The F-League will be played across three series starting this weekend and 2011 will see six clubs, all Open Men squads, two from Victoria, one from the ACT and three Sydney based teams going head to head in fighting out the battle to see who will be the first ever Champion in the F-League competition.

Clubs such as Dural Warriors (NSW), Maccabi Hakoah (NSW), Parramatta Blues (NSW), Boomerangs FS (ACT), Inner City FC (VIC) and St Albans Strikers FC (VIC) have all commenced its preparations for what will be an exciting year for the sport of Futsal.

Series One will be played at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium while Series Two (25th June) has been scheduled at the Sydney Academy of Sport at Narrabeen with Series three’s (24th July) venue to be confirmed shortly.

The F-League is set to give Australia’s best futsal players the opportunity to play the sport all year round and providing serious competition for any player wishing to compete at the highest level in the coveted sport.

Football NSW’s Futsal Manager Damian Briggs was delighted with the direction the sport has taken with the initiative of the F-League and what it will offer the sport.

“The F-League is a giant step forward for Futsal in this country as the F-League will provide professional futsal league in winter.

“Football NSW are pleased with the support from FFV and Capital Football in allowing teams to take part in the inaugural season.

“Football NSW are excited to take this leap forward and push for a National Futsal League and give the elite Futsal player an opportunity to play all year round.”
