The 2011 National Team Championships has once again wrapped up for the year after a full weekend of fast paced and exciting Futsal. This years event proved to be a success after bringing a vast number of club teams from around the country to the one venue in the hope of taking out the title of National Team Champions.

With the semi-finals ending up as very tight affairs the Grand Finals were definitely expected to be very close match ups. In the womens division, the experienced, powerhouse ‘Bridge 2 Brews’ were able to take out the title after defeating Sydney Tragic comfortably 8 – 4. The champion team certainly didn’t have an easy campaign throughout the competition, a very close call in the semi-finals where they managed to scrape through after beating the very competitive ‘Phoenix’ in a nerve wracking penalty shoot-out.

The mens division came to a close after Brisbane team ‘Ring Ins FC’ defeated the Poonchers 9 – 5 in the Grand Final. This proved to be a very exciting game with an array of exciting goals by both teams early on. In the end the ‘Ring Ins FC’ were far too superior and managed to seal the deal with a number of goals late in the game.

As an extra incentive, all players at this years competition had the opportunity to be selected to attend trials for the South QLD representative team to compete at the 2012 National Futsal Championships in Sydney.
