Dear Hunter Strikers Club, Futsal Supporter,
After seven years of club existence and the last five years being of loyal support to NNSW Football in the development of Futsal in the state and with NO breaches to our name, in other words we did everything that was asked of us by NNSW Football, we have been officially told that together with Manning Futsal and Far North Coast NSW Futsal, we would not be given endorsement to operate under the FFA Northern NSW banner.
I will not bore you with all the politics but those who have been involved with us fully know the work that the HFS club members have done, to help our club and representative teams and all the hurdles that we and our fellow NNSWF ex club’s had to jump over, to create pathways for all our players, coaches and referees. NNSW Football did not seem interested in Futsal and in particular any ” Pathways” for players and were contemplating, much to our disapproval , to send only a few teams to FFA National titles this 2011/12 season. Their prejudice to non-outdoor players was also shown by the huge extra costs for them to participate in a sport that should be available to all, at a fair price.
NNSW Football disloyalty to our club, is our gain, with Hunter Futsal Strikers club amalgamating with Australia Futsal Association, the biggest Futsal Association in Australia, with over 50, 000 members in Australia and New Zealand. (Also known as Vikings Futsal).
As the rest of our web site states, NOTHING CHANGES!!
We will still provide competitions at all our centres for both Club and Premier League teams and we will have a true NNSW State championships with the like of big clubs from North Coast, Lismore, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Manning and our four regions competing and we will have a state team in each age group go to Nationals and we will treat all players equally (outdoor players with non-outdoor players).
We still have the state of the art court at Howzat and the biggest Super Futsal court in NNSW at Gateshead Sportsworld and great facilities and courts at Maitland and Newcastle Basketball Stadium and with the amalgamation with Vikings Futsal a lot of other opportunities will be presented to our members as time goes on.
Our web site will also change over the time BUT one thing that will not change is our passion and commitment to Futsal and our club members.
I thank you very much for your continued support and especially those who have rung over the last few days for your support and best wishes. We are quietly confident that our members will understand that a change for the better has been forced on us and that with the support of our members and the vast opportunities Vikings Futsal brings to us, we will still be the number 1 Futsal club in NNSW.
Thank you and regards.
George Poulos,
Hunter Futsal, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Valley and North Lakes (Central Coast), Strikers and on behalf of committee executives Matt Law, Chris Poulos, Daniel and Helena Carraro, Leanne, Juan Scaron, Carynne Poulos, Frank Flood, David Winter and Peter Poulos.
