FIFA Futsal Referee Scott Kidson takes on an additional role within the NSWFRA
02 August, 2011
Scott Kidson has been appointed as newly designated Director of Coaching for the New South Wales Futsal Referees Association (NSWFRA).
Kidson, a current FIFA listed futsal referee and who holds a FIFA Futsal Referee Instructor’s certification, has been a mainstay in the Association’s referee development program over the past three years leading the majority of the Association’s technical and practical education sessions.
On pitch, Kidson has overseen over 80 international fixtures including the 3rd place play-off match at the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Championship in Brazil and AFC Futsal Club Championship as well as semi-finals at the past two AFC Futsal Championships.
Off the pitch, Kidson is qualified to train futsal referee instructors for FIFA member associations, has been a member of the AFC Elite Futsal Referees group since its inception in 2008 and has attended UEFA’s futsal refereeing seminar series as part of the AFC/UEFA futsal referee exchange program.
Kidson will take on the role of Director of Coaching in addition to his current responsibilities as NSWFRA Secretary.
Having worked hard to facilitate the development of the membership after taking over as NSWFRA Secretary in 2009, Kidson said was looking forward to continuing his contribution through Director of Coaching role.
“The standard of futsal refereeing has been greatly improving in recent times and I’ll be making sure the NSWFRA continues to move in the right direction”, Kidson said.
“There are already a number of plans in place to improve the futsal refereeing fraternity with the help of many other people in the NSWFRA, whether it be our recruitment or referee education, assessment and overall development.”
NSWFRA President Gavin Lee said that he expected Kidson to excel in the role of Director of Coaching.
“Scott has been of huge influence and support to the NSWFRA through countless avenues for many years now – the Director of Coaching role is a natural fit for much of the work he already does”, Lee said.
Kidson has been appointed for a two year tenure that will end in May 2013.
