New Direction for Futsal (NSW)
Northern NSW Football partnering with PCYC to run comps in 7 centres in October
02 August, 2011
Futsal in Northern NSW is about to take an exciting new direction with Northern NSW Football to provide a co-ordinated and fresh new approach to the delivery of the fast paced indoor format.
Northern NSW Football in partnership with PCYC will be delivering Futsal across Northern NSW, initially piloting seven (7) new Futsal centres in Maitland PCYC, Taree PCYC, Lake Macquarie PCYC, Morisset PCYC, Port Stephen PCYC, Taree Basketball Stadium and Tamworth.
Competitions will commence on the 10th of October, 2011.
Northern NSW Football is developing a dedicated Futsal website that will provide centre information, team nomination forms along with details on Futsal activity across Northern NSW including State and National Championships as well as Schools Futsal.
The new site will be your ‘one stop shop’ for Futsal information in Northern NSW.
It is anticipated that the new site will be live soon, so watch for details here and on www.facebook.com/nnswf

A step in the right direction. Futsal in NNSW has been crying out for some serious input from our governing body. Lets hope that the NNSW outdoor clubs get behind this and encourage their players to enter the competitions.
But where does it leave HFSS that has been running the show up till now? None of these centres are anything to do with them, so will we have 2 rival competitions in future?

This is a well overdue step taken by NNSW, for too long HFSS have run Futsal as a business. I dont know where this puts HFSS, but one must ask why NNSW have waited until now to become involved. Im sure of these questions will be answered soon enough.
It would be great to see local clubs, especially state league teams to get behind and form a real premier league.

Ronald, I couldn’t agree more. If NNSW asked the NBN Clubs to field sides from 12′s up to Mens there would be a fantastic Premier League Competition.
Lots of the guys already play Futsal, but make up their own teams with mates, but imagine how good it would be if NBN or 2HD clubs were in it?
Now that the Herlad Womens Premier League is established it would be possible for the Clubs backing that competition to have teams for girls and Women.
But I fear it will only continue to be a dream :(

While it would be good to see NNSW take an interest in futsal, I feel it has been handled poorly. There are 3 clubs in NNSW (and they were the only 3 last season) that have been told they won’t be registered. I think that politics have done enough damage to this sport and this continues. Where is the loyalty to these clubs?

Who are the 3 clubs, sticks?
I wasn’t aware of any clubs being involved in Futsal in NNSW.
Are you referring to football clubs not being registered by NNSW Football or their relative zone?
Any futsal teams entered in the centres controlled by HFSS have been, by and large, made up of friends or club teams entered randomly by teams that wanted to do something in the off season.
I am all for loyalty too.
Please tell us more!

I was talking about manning futsal, hfss & Mid North Coast Futsal (who left vikings to join NNSW) my understanding is these clubs put most (if not all) money made back into the sport. I look forward to hearing from these clubs about their future. I hope they Continue because I know they have put in a lot of hard work to help this sport that has clearly gone un-noticed by NNSW.

Yes, I would like to hear what’s happening to the HFSS, Manning Futsal & Mid Nth Coast Futsal organised competitions too.
HFSS is advertising on their website that they are affiliated with Australia Futsal Association- who are they?
Rumour has it they the above named “Clubs” have gone over to Vikings and that is why they won’t be registered with NNSW Football, the same as the Clubs in Sydney that are affiliated with Vikings, are not registered with FNSW.
Can you shed any light on that rumour sticks?

Where did you hear that rumor mumbler? As far as I know they were told they wouldn’t be registered by NNSW (having every intention to continue their affiliation) but I guess Vikings or ASA are the only options.
Who are the Sydney clubs?

The rumour has been repeated by several sources and I believe it has some credence, whether it was leave or be pushed out. Only NNSW and the Clubs involved know what happened there.
None of the 19 clubs that play Premier or Super League in Sydney are involved with Vikings, and as so, they are endorsed by FNSW and FFA.
Vikings run their own show, and good luck to them!

HFSS have made a statement.
Aug 10, 2011, 11:12 pm
Yes, HFSS have, and I have read it with interest.
I hope they have a successful association with Vikings.
My main worry is that futsal competitions in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie were struggling for numbers, in most age groups, before the split between HFSS and NNSW Football.
With 2 different competitions trying to attract players, I fear that it may make the future for Futsal in NNSW less viable, rather than improving the outlook.
It will be interesting to see how NNSW/ PCYC and HFSS approach attracting both new, & existing players, to their relative competitions.
Only time will tell whether Futsal is the winner!

has anyone made up their minds as to who to side with?
