After finishing the regular season on top of the ladder, the boys had to back up in the finals playing against some of the best Futsal sides in Melbourne. The Legends also with State reps in their squad were always going to be hard to beat. The Strikers 14 with an advantage in strength and speed were always going to be a threat. The Manta Rays are futsal experts, and on their day can beat any team in Victoria, and the Springhills players are a classy team, playing well beyond their 12 year old age.
After some exhilarating games, it came down to a strikers 14 and 5 plus 3 grand final. With a capacity crowd in attendance it was the 5 plus 3 who dominated from start to finish to win the game 6:2. The 5 plus 3 management certainly did their homework after the last time the two sides met, nullifying the Strikers target man Aminta Makalovski. Paolo Oliva putting in a man of the match performance, marking Aminta out of the game. The Strikers 14 unable to change their game plan, allowing the 5 plus 3 to break away with swift counter attacks to lead 6 nil, early in the second half. Two late goals to the Strikers 14 added some respectability to the score.
5 plus 3 now looking at doing the unthinkable and win an unprecedented three titles in a row.
