Sydney Futsal Club – Season Launch (NSW)

Sydney Futsal Club

Sydney Futsal Club have completed their pre-season preparations for the upcoming 2011 FNSW Futsal Super League season. As one of the newly formed clubs, there has been no shortage of excitement.

In August, seven members of their men’s squad participated in an all-expenses paid, ESPN Tiger Street Football event in Vietnam. This was the first time any Australian team had been invited to such an event. Given the player’s professionalism, discipline and performance on and off the field, Sydney Futsal Club will again participate in the 2012 version of this event.

The club commenced training at the beginning of September, with the players being thrown in the deep end playing trials against the likes of heavyweights Campbelltown Quake, Dural Warriors and Mascot Vipers. With some varying, tough and mixed results, all players performed admirably within and above their own age group.

On Friday the 16th September 2011, Sydney Futsal Club held their season launch at Marrickville PCYC, where their players had the pleasure of meeting Club Captain and Futsalroo Tuan Cao, as he presented the players with their gear.

It was announced that Sydney Futsal Club had entered into a partnership with Indoor 5’s, providing pathways for grassroots Futsal. This is none more evident with players such as Mitomo Somehara, Atsushi Yamada and Jun Arima who are all members of our men’s youth/senior squads.

Sydney Futsal Club also announced that they had entered into an agreement/affiliation with Manchester Futsal Club which will provide players, coaches and officials from both club’s an opportunity to share and grow the sport of Futsal domestically and internationally. Opportunities will be available for players to trial and teams to participate in overseas tours in the not too distant future. Club President Lorenzo D’Addona has been in discussions with the chairman of the club and the Small-sided Project Officer of The Football Association since March 2011.

Club photos will be held this Sunday 25th September 2011, as the club has the weekend off to freshen up for their season opener against Phoenix Futsal.

Our first home game will be held at Marrickville PCYC on Saturday 1st October 2011, where we are hoping to have members of Sydney FC Men’s and Women’s squad present.

Thank you to all players, parents and officials for their efforts so far and we wish all clubs the best in the upcoming season.

Let’s entertain and have some fun!
