17 year old Ashley Knight selected as a Vikings National Rep for the second time
The term prodigy is one that could certainly apply to 17-year-old Ashleigh Knight.
Her talent has resulted in selection in an Australian futsal representative team for the second time, firmly establishing her as an elite sportswoman.
The Bremer State High School student (pictured) will first represent Queensland in Sydney at the national schools championship in January, ideal preparation for the Australian tour of the United States in May.
“I didn’t think I would be selected the first time. That was a dream,” Ashleigh said.
“I don’t know what the United States’ standards of futsal will be like but we’re going to have a pretty good chance. Australia is a really powerful side.”
Ashleigh is looking to recover from the lingering effects from her tour of Brazil with the U-19 Australian team in August before representing Queensland.
“I’ve been sick lately, ever since I got back from Brazil. I’ve been getting continous flu’s,” she said.
“There’s a massive rivalry with NSW. In the competition I just did over the school holidays, we beat them twice and we are looking to do it again.”
