Woden kick starts Women’s FPL with big win (ACT)
Latest ACT Womens Futsal Premier League Match Reports
Woden Valley started their Women’s Futsal Premier League campaign with a 4-1 victory over El Diva Belwest at the AIS Training Hall last week. The Valley youngsters were in superb form against the side that had topped the lead after an opening day blitz of Tuggeranong United striking some superb goals and nullifying the threat of the more experienced Belwest side with some fast inter-play and some swift counter-attacks. Sophie Kochinos, Ashleigh Palombi, Kelsey Perry and Emma Thornton scored the goals for Woden Valley whilst Aniko Berguno replied for El Diva, her second goal in as many games.
Boomerangs FS took advantage of El Diva’s defeat to move joint top of the ladder after two rounds of the competition with their 3-1 win over Belwest Foxes enabled them to claim joint leadership along with Gungahlin United with both teams having played two matches and having the exact same goal difference and goals scored. The in-form Sarah Crittenden was on target twice for the Boomerangs with Amanda Aurousseau scoring her second goal of the season tom complete their scoring. Erika Pennyfield was the sole scorer in reply for the defeated Foxes.
As mentioned, Gungahlin United share the top-of-the-table with The Boomerangs after they won a highly-charged match 3-1 against Belconnen United. The Gungahlin team looks to be in good shape for this tournament and will be happy that gun-striker Brittany Tully opened her account for the season with a brace of goals. Dianne Wilson was the other goal scorer for Gungahlin whilst Brittany Smale replied for the Blue Devils who played well in defeat and will shake a few teams in this year’s edition.
