FFA NATIONALS
With Nationals yet again on the horizon and news of the Futsalroo ASEAN qualifiers postponed one has to ask if Capital Football could accommodate the Futsalroo’s in this year’s 2012 championships. It would be fantastic for all involved to have the Australian Men’s National team competing on the biggest futsal stage in Australia. Firstly it would be fantastic for Steve Knight to have all his team in camp for 5 days playing competitive fixtures. Secondly it would give the NSW & ACT sides that have dominated for years a new kind of challenge and thirdly could tickle the fancy of the likes of New Zealand & Soloman Islands giving the championships an international flavour. The question then would be does NSW have enough depth to field strong Thunder & Lightning sides. Could sides like VIC, Southern NSW, Northern NSW, TAS & Colts match it with AUS’s finest?
FOOTBALL MEANS FUTSAL
Can the FFA take responsibility for the entire code they govern; after all they define futsal as ‘Football’ in their statute (see footnote). Why not give Futsal the fastest growing court sport in the world, the entertaining, shorter version of the world game credit where credit is due. Futsal has countless benefits from youth development, right through to offering a second avenue for players dropping out of football. It’s also irresistible for the neutral, its indoor nature; shorter duration and flair have families, friends and fans coming back for more every week from NSW Premier League to social leagues in QLD! Take nothing away from football, however how can you neglect the relation between futsal and football success. You will find futsal in countries that have won multiple world cups, and on a smaller scale even sides like Thailand who should’ve beaten a terrible Australia the other evening. Futsal is big in Asia so let’s join the party!
FOOTBALL FEDERATIONS
You can still make coin out of futsal without charging junior players $2300 to participate in a championship. Taking advantage of our talented juniors is disgraceful, come up with other avenues to make revenue. Surely this cannot go on much longer without an affairs show getting wind of this absolute rip off. Federations have been given the ‘privilege’ to run football/futsal let’s not abuse it. State teams should be run at cost worst case scenario. You as a federation need to do more to pick the best players and support them, not turn them away for dollars.
That’s it for this week’s Futsal Rant, more to come.

Given the flick? After winnning last years nationals? He’s obviously one of the BEST futsal coaches in AUS, he walks the walk unlike a certain member in VIC… He’s definetly been reappointed and will be at nationals this year, he was also present at the F-League just like all futsal lovers shoudl’ve been.
Qatar are coming apparently, use the ‘contact us’ page on their federation website for more information, but not playing for points…

exactly, but having publicly released all other coaches bar open (male/female) it seems sus… maybe it is depending on futsalroos – thus takes out varela.

Viper you’re in form, what about no stop clock, but introduce time outs?
Also does anybody know? are qatar playing for point? or are they there for show? if they are not there for points perhaps the team versing them should be awarder points w,l,d? just to make the games interesting as I would assume teams will be treating this clash as a rest.
