The State League Commission detail the first round of Futsal Oz’s State League
Collingwood got off to a great start beating FC Melbourne 7-4 with Tom Brookes in scintillating form with 5 goals. Dennis Aleveizos kicked a brace for FC Melbourne but it wasn’t enough for Chris Gospels men who are looking for a top four finish. FC Carlton just got over the line against great rivals FC St Kilda 5-4 in the 8:20pm clash. It was an absolute thriller with Ben Geaboc (former Footscray player) kicking a hat trick. Carlton’s Julis Seraro & Peter Sugij both kicked two goals for the men in white, after missing out on a top four finish last season they are looking to go one better this season.
The third clash of the night saw Amin Kedad’s Hume FC take on Albert Park FC in another close game. Sacid Cicek had a blinder scoring a hat trick as Hume went on to win 4-3 after leading 2-1 at half time. Elisee Mutabazi the shining light for the young Albert Park side. FC Geelong then ran riot in the opening five minutes of their game racing to a 3-0 lead. That was the score for the rest of the game with Mili Muratbegovic kicking a vital double. Brighton FC need a couple of attacking players that can kick goals as they were solid defensively for the remainder of the game but just couldn’t score.
Last game of the clash was a ripsnorter of a battle with FC Hawthorn leading 4-1 at one stage. However Elsternwick were to come back winning 8-6. Taylor Curry joined his ex Melbourne University team mates in Alex Victory, Daniel Van Reyk, Tom Wang & Morris Edwards and kicked a hat trick for FC Hawthorn. However it wasn’t enough as Kurt Marotta kicked four and Elsternwick won the game by two goals.
