Junior Joma Sala League is in full swing (VIC)
Quick reports from the Bayside Pirates
In the U10s League, the Red Emperors are the team to beat, winning an impressive 5 out of 5 and sit on top of the ladder with 15 points. The East Bentleigh Strikers are gaining momentum and could provide a late challenge to the title.
In the U12s League the Oakleigh Cannons, coached by Jim Moutsopoulos, raced to a commanding lead with 12 points from 4 games played, only to be thwarted last week by the Bentleigh Greens Vipers. The Cannons are a well organised futsal / footballing side, as they won the outdoor Castlefield Cup recently, which was no mean feat. Can they win the SE Zone JSL and thus make the finals of the JSL? Greg Avdoulos’ Vipers and the Pirates all conquering Girl Power Hornets will be doing their best to stop them. At the half way mark, the Vipers are on top by goal difference from the Cannons. Sitting on 9 points are the Pirates Destroyers and the Hornets. It is going to be a closely fought contest.
In the U14s League Brighton are neck and neck with the Pirates Seahawks. The Ninjas notched up their first win last week, over coming the Pirates Super 12s. But they need to take points off the Seahawks, or Brighton, if they are to advance to the JSL finals. Two top teams from the west await the winners.
Some great games of futsal have been played and there is still another 5 weeks, plus finals, to go!
