looks like a futsal oz team… 1 player from st albans (runners up F-league and its possibly the weakest player)… 2 dud keepers….. maybe there is hope by the addistions of nagulage and yoshinao!
Nov 20, 2011, 8:29 pm
Ok mate, ill bite! Its a good chance to kill the speculation and murmurs over the team.
For the 200 people that view this article and are after some clarity given that predominantly NSW people frequent F4A:
All players that have been selected attended scheduled trials and were picked by a selection panel including the FFV. Unfortunately members from last years team & some of the countries finest Futsal players missed out which is a shame and made even worse by the fact that VIC has only one team at nationals.
Secondly St Albans are a fantastic futsal club & take nothing away from Rob or the players, but if you look at the overall F-League ladder they finished 4th after 15 rounds. Regardless only two St Albans members attended any training/trials. Jose is a fantastic player and to say that he is ‘possibly the weakest’ is a far-fetched opinion & insulting.
Thirdly, Last years VIC number one GK (potentially AUS GK) & this years V-League Keeper of the season absolute duds? Your having a laugh surely!
Last years Victorian team lost the final on penalties, ‘maybe there is hope’ is the funniest thing i’ve read on F4A! Danny & Yoshinao are superstars and great additions to last years team.
Nov 20, 2011, 8:48 pm
Got to agree with Adam.
My son played in the St Albans team and both of us rate Jose highly. Both keepers are also excellent IMO.
Nov 21, 2011, 8:36 am
Good luck boys, spewing SA won’t be going this year. No SA v VIC rivalry this time.
Nov 21, 2011, 8:50 am
What? S.A isn’t participating? Since when Anthony?
Nov 21, 2011, 9:11 am
Is that in all grades Anthony?
Nov 21, 2011, 11:36 am
Nah just open mens, Couldn’t get enough players to pay up quick enough.
Nov 21, 2011, 12:00 pm
Futsal Oz Team? 6 of the team play for Vic Vipers Futsal Club. They in fact play against Inner City FC (Futsal Oz) in competitions such as MFL.
Are you claming favouritism?
Nov 21, 2011, 6:53 pm
They may play for another club, but also are good mates thru v league ;) I’m there every week ;)
Nov 21, 2011, 12:38 pm
Dianoosh is the only decent gk there…. No Greg no claudio? Both those two are better than those two. I didn’t see them at trials ;)
Nov 21, 2011, 1:37 pm
Sir John. Greg plays at futsal oz and so did claudio. Greg attended some trials but he will be the first to admit he didnt attend enough sessions to be considered.
Regardless Sir, who are you, where do you play/coach and what are your recommmdations for VIC Futsal?
Nov 21, 2011, 3:01 pm
Better yet SirJohn, rather than solve all of the issues in Victorian Futsal in this thread alone, why dont you give us the 12 you would select to represent the state at the FFA Nationals in January…
You obviously disagree with many players being selected in the above train-on squad.
Nov 21, 2011, 6:50 pm
There was only a few trials at oakleigh. 2 I believe? Can you confirm this?
Me? I’ve been around Futsal both here in Melb and thru out Europe a long time now. Just what I see. I won’t name the players I’d remove but I’d add both keepers previously mentioned, Mira pedic, tomo grgic, Josef avdic
Nov 21, 2011, 8:20 pm
Mirza didnt trial and neither did Josef. Max attended 3-4 from memory & grgic 1.
Warriors? The team that didn’t have enough players & had to forfeit at half time? The team that copped 20+ goals from vipers/ st albans/ inner city? :s I’m confused? Do you mean cobras?
Nov 21, 2011, 6:52 pm
The queenslander rep from warriors, max Avram and I’d b tempted to fly renagi from Queensland.
They would provide a stronger squad :)
Surgeon ;)
Nov 21, 2011, 8:23 pm
Renagi is a star, and you could add 20 players that would make a stronger squad, but unfortunately the coach can only pick twelve and until your in the hot seat you will have to settle for being a nit picking keyboard warrior :)
Nov 21, 2011, 8:10 pm
Sir John reveal yourself, your posts are hilarious! I can’t take it any more haha!
Nov 21, 2011, 8:32 pm
The following players should not be in the squad let alone the team
Salve
Silva
Yoshinao
They’re not from Australia, to my knowledge have no intention of making Australia they’re home and should have no place in a Victorian squad.
Nov 21, 2011, 9:18 pm
how can he attend 4 trials when ffv only allocated two? or was this down at the special v league invite only ones?
haha i know more than you think, been round a lot longer than you ;)
Nov 21, 2011, 9:35 pm
maybe they should play for QLD or WA or SA or NT or Tasmania if they had a team?
or why dont they play for one of the 7 NSW teams?
there is way to much quality for only 1 VIC squad! considering nsw have 2 + more from the outer regions of sydney.
I believe another Vic squad would play a major part in improving the comp. inc some unreal derby clashes, lifting the tempo for both squads.
basically its a NSW/ACT state of origin with a twist of Vic.
maybe it should be called territory, state of origin with vic?
futsafan232 i feel your pain, hopefully more opportunities are on the horizon.
Nov 21, 2011, 9:38 pm
Ridiculous comment! All 3 players played in the MFL for their clubs. All 3 players live full time in melbourne and have qualified to play for the Victorian team under the FFV’s guidelines.
The Brazilians Caro Salve and Silva have lived here for almost 2 years and I am told Yoshinao will be here for a minimum of 2 years.
So tell me again why they shouldn’t play for Victoria?
Nov 21, 2011, 9:47 pm
Futsal fan, how would you know whether they plan to call AUS home or not? They value Victoria & Futsal more then most!
They train hard & play hard week in week out and totally deserve there inclusion, they have lifted the bar for aspiring players that wish to play for the VICS. It’s no different to the islanders that played for Thunder in the AFC club champs.
More importantly there is no rule that forbids them, they are FFA registered and played MFL. The coaching staff would want to pick the best squad to win the championships so respect their choice.
What about all those naturalized brazillians in Qatar & Spain and every other nation that has different nationalities in the team?
Nov 21, 2011, 9:56 pm
Renagi Ingram, What a fantastic idea! While you are at it, fly in Spathis, Seeto, Giovanelli and anyone else you can think of as well.
As for this QLD representative that played for warriors. I don’t remember him from the MFL so I will reserve my comments on him. What is his name? Does he live in Melbourne? How did the warriors fair in the MFL? I concede that when playing in a very poor team, it is hard for one player to make a difference. However you are claiming this player, is in the best 16 Victorian players. Hard to imagine.
Maxi Avraam is a quality player. No doubting that. He missed out for whatever reason, but I wouldn’t argue with a player of his ability being in the squad. He plays for Inner City. As a Futsal Oz Favourite, why didn’t he make the squad? You seem to know all, so I would appreciate your knowledge on this.
I suppose 1 out of 3 isn’t a bad effort on your behalf though.
Nov 21, 2011, 9:59 pm
Sir John, if you know so much then why dont you share your wisdom with F4A and tell us what you have done for futsal compared to say Futsal Oz?
I’d say next to nothing, other then stir the pot here. Nada, zilch, zero. FFV coach Paul Vidic was at the MFL & Club Champs and invited such players in accordance with FFV regulations.
Protocol was followed and just like in life sometimes you just aren’t deemed good enough and it is a tough pill to swallow but you need mental toughness to bite the bullet and come back stronger!
As Justin timberlake once said sir John, cry me a river!
Nov 21, 2011, 10:06 pm
of course youve been around, tours, comities, affiliations and no doubt employed to some capacity by the fed.
why is it then, (if such a great keeper was overlooked?) you as coach often sub him off after he conceded a couple of goals?
question is?
why didnt you give him the game time he deserved?
Nov 21, 2011, 10:38 pm
Those 3 players are QUALITY no doubt about it so no issues of merit on whether they should be included in the team.
Whilst you may be right that its within the rules to have these players play in the VIC squad doesn’t mean that it is the right thing to do.
There is a lot of talk from people on this forum about growing futsal looking to the long term but when it comes to picking out rep squad that obviously goes out the window.
If you’re serious about growing the sport give these spots to players that you know will be around in a few years. I would hate for a player like Portillo a young talent with decent potential for example to miss out on the experience because one of the brazillians have taken that position.
In the past 2 years futsla in vic at the senior teams has improved greatly. A lof of that credit goes to Futsal OZ and at the FFA nationals these 2 brazillians and Fernando. Ultimately whilst these players obviously lift the level of the squad and those around them it is a short term solution.
Look at the EPL and its introduction of Homegrown Players. That’s at a professional level where sport is a business, if people are serious about developing this game a little short term pain will keep this sport growing.
Nov 21, 2011, 11:10 pm
you need stars in futsal to grow futsal.
who do you think all the young vic futsal players look up to? who do they want to be as good as or even better than?
futsal needs this guide to get the awareness out there.
de moraes started off the same way? he is now a futsalroo and the most recognized futsal player in australia.
de moraes, salve and da sliva have contributed and continue to contribute to the popularity of futsal, bringing a wealth of knowledge to vic.
5 years ago hardly anyone in vic had heard the word “futsal” do you remember? or is that short term?
now we are experts, experts in a sport that brazillians have been playing for 70 years.
You can only develop if you play with/against or trained by the best there is available.
Nov 22, 2011, 6:07 am
adam, refuse to work for the fed, ive done a lot more for futsal than you would know. not blowing my own trumpet.
renagi played in the MFL so he is deemed eligible, i wouldnt fly in spathis, and i wasnt overly impressed with seeto (both in 2nd div spain, and the F-league)
as for ffv policy (its on the web) players were to register online to trial, where the coaching staff would run the session and have talent id pick up the squad… its all on the website.
you will know who i am when u see me in the stand, ill be wearing my Husseni vic shirt ;)
andre was the big string puller last year, coaching and bringing in nando
Nov 22, 2011, 7:33 am
It amazes me that people are sitting back and taking pot shots at eachother, under assumed identities.
It seems to me there is a bit of a cold war happening here. Either way club futsal will be the winner out of this bickering, with nationals reducing in importance. 2012 bring it on.
Nov 22, 2011, 8:14 am
‘sirjohn’. Do you think Manny Karis should be included into the squad? ;)
Nov 22, 2011, 8:16 am
“…FFV coach Paul Vidic….”.
What a joke. I bet you ment to say ‘puppet Paul Vidic’.
Between his Team Manager, Moraes, Husseini and the short bald guy that hangs around all the time, the poor bloke doesn’t get a look in – just sits there and agrees with whatever they say. Just as well if he did have his 2 cents worth he’d confuse it up even more – especially with his ‘extensive’ (lol) knowledge of the game. At last years nationals it was his team manager and Moraes that called all the shots while he sat on the bench and don’t try to deny it – I was there at every game. This is too funny!!!!!
Nov 22, 2011, 8:46 am
I think there is no doubt club Futsal will be massive next year.
The emergence of the F League as a genuine national competition and the fact it has been so warmly embraced by Australian Futsal public is fantastic and can only lead to bigger and better things.
Finally a national competition that the countries elite players have been crying out for.
Take nothing away from the Nationals though, the chance to represent your home state is an honour that many players would love the opportunity to take part in.
Either way, Victoria to win the 2012 Nationals. The squad that has been selected above is more than capable of achieving that!
Nov 22, 2011, 9:25 am
Guys all this bickering is not doing anyone any favours. No wonder no one else wants the Vic coaching gig, look at all the slander against his name. Why doesn’t anyone else opt to put their hands up and put their balls on the line and deal with the strong characters in and around the squad.
Nov 22, 2011, 10:41 am
ok viper, how can you be at the vikings nationals & at the ffa nationals at the same time?
now that your with the ffv your jnr squad (with your favourites) have their work cut out.
hopefully you make a better coach then a blogger.
I wish you all the best, lets hope you do better than paul and the mens squad.
btw why dont you announce your squad? worried there might be some favouritism?
Nov 22, 2011, 10:51 am
sirjohn: what have you done for futsal?
apart from being a critic, have you done any good? let this forum know?
its easy to have a crack, you know how hard it is to get a squad together, as you remember your 2010 campaign wasnt great, was it?
Nov 22, 2011, 11:23 am
Wasn’t at Vikings Nationals- was in Canberra.
Not a Junior coach – anymore.
Don’t have a squad to announce.
0 from 3.
Not who you think I am but keep going you’re hilarious… You know as much about my identity as you do futsal – zero!!!!
Nov 22, 2011, 11:54 am
Guys what I love about u guys , is that you are enjoying the fun and games of others trying to pick your real identity, lol. Really there is only 4-5 people in Victoria with the inside info and knowledge to be talking the way they are. It’s funny, but childish
Nov 22, 2011, 11:57 am
i love it. this is banter not bickering and i reckon its good for the sport. it shows passion if someone is worked up enough to post something about it online.
Nov 22, 2011, 12:34 pm
Opinions, suggestions and ideas have next to no value if they are authorless. however I understand that this is a forum where keyboard warriors take pot shots at coaches and selectors.
Regardless back to the topic at hand good luck to Victoria at Nationals.
Nov 22, 2011, 12:41 pm
thats rubbish. ideas and suggestions have plenty of value if they are good. who cares if the author is known or not known. a good idea is a good idea.
by your logic everything futsalrant has written is of next to no value and everything you have written is next to no value. rubbish.
i saw let the banter continue. its fun to read and every now and then a good idea comes out of it.
Nov 22, 2011, 12:43 pm
and for the record i hope vic wins in the mens to give nsw and act a decent scare and let them know they aren’t the centre of the futsal universe in australia.
a futsal state of origin eventually would be great!
Nov 22, 2011, 12:46 pm
sirjohn: “i wouldnt fly in spathis”
What exactly does that mean?
Nov 22, 2011, 1:27 pm
It means he doesn’t rate him as a player obviously, well thats how I read it.
Unless he wouldn’t fly Spathis to Victoria to make him then get on a plane to canberra straight away ;-) lol
I suppose you should stop your son from training with him Futsaldad, sirjohn does know best afterall. He has supposedly done a lot for futsal, no evidence, so we will just take his word for it.
Laughable comment.
Nov 22, 2011, 2:00 pm
viper & sirjohn
you are the ones that posses all the futsal knowledge in the land, you have also been around for decades and of course done heaps for the sport?
Of course all your work is done without anyone knowing about it, great formula, it’s no wonder futsal is heading in the right direction.
Thank you, the futsal community owe you heaps for your contribution over the past 20 years, you both have put futsal on the map.
Sirjohn keep on telling everyone how good you are?
Viper it’s time for bolero castozo’s to get involved?
unbelievable
Nov 22, 2011, 2:07 pm
spathis, seeto & co are quality! they would be walk up starters in any state team lets be realistic.
what a character this sirelton is?
Nov 22, 2011, 2:29 pm
Agree seeto is a quality player, as are alot of the other players. The question is not who is better, as there are many other players as good if not better. It’s whether they know the system, that’s obviously what the national coach is looking for.
On the other side of the argument is the fact we are perhaps not picking the matchwinners or best players because they don’t fit into the system. Our results on an international level suggests we might have to revise that policy.
Nov 22, 2011, 5:24 pm
id be happy with dianoosh in goals…
sala specialist…. an indoor specialist? futbol d’sala do you mean?
i just say what i see, im not claiming to be god, ive just introduced a few people to the sport… dont want public recogniton as i generally fly under the radar…
i think its great that we comment on this, i have my opinion on who id pick, its clearly different to peters/adams and maybe yours too… but thats life isnt it…
we are all in futsal to make it the number 1 sport…. and yes with ffa taking over f-league i think we in victoria have turned the table ;)
Nov 22, 2011, 7:46 pm
I’m happy with Dianoosh in goals he is by the far best keeper in VIC and one of the best in AUS.
Everybody would pick a different 12 but thats life and at the end of the day the coach picks and lives and dies by his selection.
I play futsal because I enjoy it and find the more people that play it and come across it the more enjoy it and take part in some way shape or form.
Credit to Damian Briggs and his FNSW crew for getting the F-League off the ground… lets hope that FFA take it on and don’t turn it off.
We’ve always had good Futsal players in VIC its not so much turning tables as it is people putting money where their mouth is and taking action and not sitting on the sidelines, enviously sniping, jealously backstabbing, brainstorming all these marvellous ideas and doing absolutely nothing about them. Actions speak louder then words!
Nov 22, 2011, 9:33 pm
sir john unfortunately you dont fly under the radar, but that keeps the rest of us (new to futbol d’sala) on our tippy toes.
as you are not god, but the oracle of futebol de salon, can you tell us why are you so sure the fleague will thrive & nationals will cease?
also while were at it
perhaps the vic teams are happy to travel to syd, 3 times a year? – do you think the interstate clubs are happy to travel 3 times a year to melb?
if the ffa take up the fleague & AFC? how many clubs could afford it? & sustain it over a decade? keep in mind, it could be a mfl, fleague + AFC year for your club?
big question is – st john, how can you generate the capital to sustain it & how will you attract sponsorship?
what would you tell a major sponsor to tickle their fancy?
will the ffa or ffv help with funds little as may be? or will a futsal confederation form? what would the ffa be happy to collect?
will the nationals remain as is or will it become a state of origin?
& finally, will we see the day were quality people work together to steering this great big ship to the promise land?
Nov 22, 2011, 11:06 pm
To my undestanding there are now many thousands of players registered in Victoria as futsal players under the ffv and ffv banner. Part of the fee goes to the FFA. What happens to that money. Does it simply go towards paying the Futsal co-ordinator’s (split with another position) wage. What exactly have they done for Futsal.
With soccer obviously all players are registerd with the governing body. Can someone please answer what other fees the clubs have to pay during the season (apart from ref;s fees). It seems like us clubs are paying hefty fees for participating in the FFV comps. What are the comparisons?
In NSW the Club Futsal C’ships fees for each team was aroun $130 (please correct me if I am wrong), however in Victoria it was $300 for Juniors and $400 for seniors.
Get the drift!
No wonder the 95 out of 100 futsal centres around melbourne don;t bother affiliating, its not in their best interests. Its left for 4 or 5 clubs to try to do the right thing for Futsal. FFV / FFA do the right thing for these clubs.
Nov 23, 2011, 11:36 am
That’s right. You do have your opinion on who should be selected. That’s the beauty of futsal. You may see a players ability differently to how I see it, or how the coach see’s it or how the next person see’s it.
You claim Portillo is the weakest in the team… so be it. Your opinion.
You claim the keepers are duds… so be it.
Your opinion.
You said Lascaris, Palmieri and Avraam should be in the team. The coach thinks differently… so be it. His opinion.
I can tell you now all the players selected only worry about what their coach and their team mates think. If they have their faith that they can do the job on the court, thats ALL that matters.
This is an open forum and it’s great to get peoples views on things though. Futsaldad for example rates all of the players you don’t. His opinion. I’m not saying it is right or wrong, it’s just how he see’s it.
The fact that this thread has generated 50+ comments is testament to the popularity the of futsal in Victoria.
Lets hope the next thread to generate 50+ comments is about Victoria winning the nationals in January.
Nov 26, 2011, 10:25 pm
ronalso your starting to come out of your shell – keep on going ronalso
Nov 26, 2011, 10:28 pm
sirjohn your all over the shop but its great to have you back. any idea when fleague will start?
Nov 27, 2011, 10:56 am
Sir john as Justin Timberlake once said, cry me a river :)
Nov 27, 2011, 11:03 am
get over it adam, i have my opinion and thats it.. you have yours..
futsal4vic….. rumours are from next year it will be AFC endorsed national league….. hence winners go to asia to play…
