ASEAN qualifiers set for February

Kuala Lumpur: The ASEAN Zone qualifiers for the 2012 AFC Futsal Championship will now take place from February 21st to 26th.

The eight-team tournament had been scheduled to take place in early December but was postponed due to logistical difficulties caused by the heavy flooding in Bangkok.

Hosts Thailand are in Group A along with Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines while Group B consists of Australia, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam with the winners of each group playing the runners-up of the other.

The two finalists and the winner of the third-place playoff will advance to the 2012 AFC Futsal Championship finals which will be held in the UAE in May.

  1. unless players perform out of their skin i doubt knighty will change the squad mentioned on here earlier in the year….

  2. Fair call. Hope to see a win there and another challenge at afc cup. Be good for the next one with the f league. Playing more regular

  3. That’s a harsh call sir John. The others are still quality players. Regardless of what happened this time, I think the nswelshmen are going to find it harder to stem the flow of quality coming out of Victoria. They are hanging on for dear life at the moment. I will be very surprised if they get what they want with regards to the structure of the F league.

  4. for a while now all i’ve been hearing is NSW v VIC… lets not forget about ACT! From what i hear they have a new coach this year who has picked some exciting young players. They could give a few teams a shock when nationals comes around and they certainly have a few players worthy of Futsalroo selection

  5. Actually from the current Victorian team there is not too many others that are eligible currently to play for Australia.
