There is a lot happening at the moment, and not enough time to write about it!

FFA Nationals Update

Just when you thought it couldn’t get more farcical! The fixture is out and the game everybody was looking forward to, the opening game of the tournament, the fixture that pits last years finest against in each other in front of a full house of opening ceremony onlookers is… NSW Thunder vs Southern NSW! Top marks for effort Capital Football you numpties! If there was a futsal neutral that didn’t want to see NSW & VIC go at it after last years final then I may as well give up. Are we trying to pump up this competition or obliterate it from existence? One word, morons. Although its not entirely Capital Footballs fault, surely FFA could lend a hand… Futsal rants advice: play ‘NSW’ vs ‘VIC’ first up especially if you are going to have one pool of 8!.

Nationals again..

An 8 team mens pool, play each other once, semi finals & a final. Some teams playing 3 games on one day and 1 game on others? Who comes up with this stuff?

Futsal rants advice: Have two groups of four. You wont get the opening spectacle everybody wants to see but then each team can have 1 big game per day.

Day 1 – First game, Day 2 – Second game, Day 3- Third Game, Day 4 -Semi Finals /5th/6th/7th/8th play offs, Day 5 – Final

  1. Thunder
  2. Colts
  3. Southern
  4. Flame
  5. Victoria
  6. Cobras
  7. Lightning
  8. Tasmania

Nationals one more time…

WTF is going on with Qatar? Are they coming or not?

Nationals is crap without everybody, FFA & Capital Football need to speak to FFSA, FW & FQ investigate why they can’t send Mens and certain junior teams etc. Assist them with getting teams to the one show case of futsal for the year.

Govern the sport like you are supposed to. Its not too late to take this on board capital football. Its becoming a joke, we are losing teams each year. If Tasmania can get their act together then so should everybody else.

Lastly how about some promotional news, articles, team lists and more you donkeys. We are in ASIA and there is a much higher level of expectation, if we don’t get our national tournament / league off the ground we will be left behind in mediocrity.

Where is the information on the F League?
    ANy news on FFA involvement?
What is the structure of the comp?
Any teams from Queensland and South Australia, or is NSW and Victoria going to play each other again. If thats the case we might as well meet in Canberra and Albury/Wodonga and play each other there. lol

Who has the Futsal Nationals draw? Not on their website yet.

    Always Surprised

You definitely need to ask the questions of FFSA FW AND FQ but don’t forget about NNSWF they have entered no teams T all. After the year they have had with letting all their members go why are they not being held accountable for entering nothing into the Nats. There are masses of players who want to play but nothing from NNSWF. Y?

Always surprised- NNSW Footabll did try to get teams together for the Nationals, but because they wanted the teams/managers/coaches to travel and stay together, as they do for Football Nationals, and parents make their own arrangements, a lot of players/parents were unhappy.

Personally I felt the amount proposed, which covered travel, 2 playing strips, accommodation, food, entry etc was very reasonable, but obviously others who nominated to trial didn’t. I was happy to pay and let someone else do the worrying about the players!

NNSW were making an effort to give the Futsal teams the same amount of support that they offer to their Elite Football Teams, which are professionally run and managed, with the players only having to worry about playing.

It appears that most Futsal players weren’t ready for this concept, which is a great pity, and probably because they may not have been involved in Football National squads.

Let’s hope they get behind NNSW Football next time they are trying to improve the standard of the teams they send to Nationals….having said that, I’m really disappointed and sad to see no teams for NNSW for the first time in 12 years that I have been involved in Futsal.

Mumbler I’m interested to know where NNSWF thought there players were coming from. Their club system only has 2 very small competitions running. If they abide by their own rules that you have to be a NNSWF Futsal registered player playing in a NNSWF club competition where were the players coming from and how was the standing going to be increased from previous years. Hunter Futsal didn’t seem to have any problems getting More than 10 teams ready for the Vikings Nats and they always provided all the players from NNSW. Have the parents and players of NNSW finally been heard?? Or is it no skin of NNSWFs back because they still have their camp in Armidale.

The problem with NNSW at the moment is that they are in a transition from a privately run club, Hunter Futsal Strikers, to been run by the federation. While this has proved to have a terrible outcome for the 2012 nationals, its future impact may be much more positive.

I feel that many of the players and parents are not well informed as to the difference between Vikings and FFA. So we will have to wait and see the reaction from those who are attending to see what they think of Vikings in comparison to the FFA nationals.

The more important question is why did NNSW piss off Hunter Futsal after all of the years of service they gave to the sport? Looks like they caused their own problems to me.

An interesting point, surely if you have been involved with NNSWF and indeed any Federation for long enough, they sometimes make decisions that do not make sense. Maybe it was to comply to something the FFA had told them.

Unfortunately due to the situation in Northern atm, Futsal will once again take a backseat.

One can understand their decision, but does Vikings offer the same or better as FFA? We will find out when those who have been to FFA Nationals come back from Vikings in January.

Always Surprised- I fear you are misinformed about the Armidale camp.

It is no longer open to everyone, and is invitation only, for those players being considered for Football National and other Elite Football Squads. Very few, if any, of those attending Armidale play Futsal, seriously or for fun.

So, Armidale is not taking anyone away from either FFA, or Vikings Nationals. The players attending the Camp train can train up to 46 weeks a year in the Elite teams, and therefore, have no time for Futsal, which is a pity.

Where NNSW was hoping to draw their players from was the next level down, those not training virtually full time, and who perhaps wouldn’t play at a National level, if they didn’t play Futsal.

There was one ready made team nominated, mostly drawn from the local NBN Football league, that would have gone really well, but most players wouldn’t part with the $800 required, so no team was able to be entered.

The only requirements for the NNSW Futsal National teams were to register your interest to trial via the website and to be a registered player with NNSW Football. This was in either Football or Futsal, and you did not have to be currently playing Futsal in a NNSW Futsal competition. In fact you can play in the HFSS Vikings competition if you want, as long as you are registered with FFA and NNSW Football when trialling for NNSW Futsal Nationals.

There are umpteen registered football players in NNSW, the problem is that many don’t play Futsal currently, especially in the Newcastle area, because they have been burned previously by the badly organised, privately run, competitions in the local Newcastle area. The organisers have good intentions, I’m sure, but not the best skills when it comes to running a viable, well run competition.

Quite often teams would turn up, only to find there was no one to play, or the draw had been changed, and no one told them etc etc. Or the already short 26 minute game was cut even shorter because the games were running late…parents get jack of paying $’s week after week when the competition consists of mainly playing yourself, split into 2 teams, week after week or backing up to fill teams, so that you can pay for the privilege to play. Sometimes you didn’t get your playing strip until the season was over or when you did, it wasn’t what you ordered, lol.

Frankly, it has been a joke at times, and many are sick of it and have either given Futsal away altogether, driven to Sydney to play Premier/Super League or switched to Indoor Soccer to get a decent game. Touch football, 6 a side and Oztag have been big winners as well.

Having said that, I have heard good things about the FNC Futsal competition, and they seem to be doing a lot to promote Futsal on the North Coast, so nothing negative to be said about them.

The main reason that I can see why HFSS has parted company with NNSW is that NNSW now has an agreement with PCYC for the competitions to be run at PCYC, which wasn’t on with HFSS management, who have their own venues and agenda.

I agree with ronald, many people in NNSW have no idea about what competition they are playing in, as long as they see “Nationals” they couldn’t care less whether it’s FFA sanctioned, or run by Vikings, and good luck to them.

I, too, will be interested to hear what the ones that have previously attended FFA Nationals think of the Vikings Nationals. If, what I have been told is correct, they will soon find out it is not “national” at all, but let’s give the Vikings the benefit of the doubt for the moment.

Those that haven’t been before will be none the wiser and I wish them luck and hope they enjoy themselves.

NNSW did not agree that teams be sent, just for the sake of sending them, unless the standard was acceptable. I agree with them on that..there is no point in sending kids to Nationals to be humiliated and flogged every game.

No point using the old furphy that NSW trains for Futsal for 6 months prior and that’s why they are good. That is simply untrue, and just an excuse to make people feel better, when the real reason is they are not good enough in the first place, and really shouldn’t have gone.

Nationals is not for learning to play Futsal i.e. a baptism of fire for inexperienced players, thrown in the deep end!

Let’s hope, as ronald says, that NNSW are more pro-active in their promotion of their PCYC Futsal competitions in 2012 and that the players get behind the competitions and support them so we can see NNSW back at the FFA Nationals in 2013.

I have seen this FINANCIAL theme quite a bit on this forum over the last few weeks. Not wanting to part with $800, $2000 etc, teams being discarded last minute and being pulled out. Certainly this has to be a worry! Parents/players are perhaps not seeing value for money.

People need to see there is a pathway for the sport to the top level. Sooner we get the f league on tv the better I say

vikings has teams from QLD city, country etc W.A, Tasmania, Victoria , NSW that seems pretty national to me oh well i must be misinformed.
i am quite interested in the things that have been said having been involved in futsal in NNSW since 2004. some of the misconcepttions about NNSW F & HFFS.
When it comes to nationals NNSW has some great players the only problem is if you mention futsal when you trial for the elite teams you seem to be frowned upon.
So consequently futsal misses out on these good players.
Coaches from around the area would rather play six a side then play futsal WHICH by its nature improves a player speed on the ball and quick thinking.
I guess that’S why Brazil has so many talented players most been brought up on futsal not six a side no room anyway for football fields.
six a side is the reason futsal was pushed aside in NNSW as this was seen as the best way to develop juniors but I’m not going to get going on that.
Its not a federation bashing im after.
ALL I WANT IS FOR THE GAME TO PROGRESS IN ALL TYPES OF THE ROUND BALL GAME AND THAT IS ACHIEVED THROUGH OUR KIDS BEEN GIVEN EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO INCREASE THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TO PRODUCE THE BEST FOOTBALL PLAYERS OVER ALL.
I will make a judgement on FFA v VIKINGS nationals after I have experienced both.
NSW doesn’t train for six months but they play the game for six months at the highest level cause of the sheer number of players in SYDNEY producing a higher standard.
NNSW has a number of Federations that make NNSW surely each federation could produce a strong futsal team in each age group to compete and then combine to have a super futsal side in all age groups.
too hard to organise I guess.
    thank you
