Bayside Pirates report on the Joma Sala League
After the completion of Round 9, only one spot is up for grabs.
In the U12s Division, Greg Avdoulos’ Vipers finished on top of Jim Moutsopoulos’ Cannons by goal difference, as they both won eight games and lost two. On Saturday both teams won their Round 9 games convincingly before playing against each other in their Round 10 match. On this occasion the Cannons beat the Vipers 7-5, but it still was not enough to take out the bragging rights for the round robin series. However, it is not over yet, as they will both meet up again in the Zone Final on Saturday 17th. The winner will meet the best from the west.
The Destroyers thumped a depleted Hornets side 7-0 to win third position on the ladder.
In the U14s Division, the Brighton juggernaut kept on rolling with another win, this time over the Ninjas, winning 10-3. The Super 12s played extremely well to beat the Seahawks 9-6, which means the preliminary show down will be next week. Quite simply, the Seahawks must beat the Ninjas to advance to the Zone Final on the 17th. The Ninjas just need to draw. It promises to be an exciting match.
In the U10s Division, the Neptunes upset the Strikers in an entertaining match, winning 6-4.
Next week sees the presentation of the MVP Medals to the winners of the three divisions and the final round of the JSL, before the finals begin.
